How to fix a coail pack on a 1987 Pontiac 6000?

Coil packs are replaced not repaired if found to be defective. ---prev.gif next.gif DISTRIBUTORLESS IGNITION SYSTEMS Starting in 1987, some models came with engines equipped with a Computer Controlled Coil Ignition (C3I) or Distributorless Ignition System (DIS). Fig. 1: Triggering system used on the C3I fast start system 86812034.gif
Fig. 2: Electrical schematic on C3I ignition system 86812031.gif Both DIS and C3I system consists of the coil pack, ignition module, crankshaft sensor, interrupter rings and ignition control module (ICM). All components are serviced as complete assemblies, although individual coils are available for Type 2 coil packs. Since the ICM controls the ignition timing, no timing adjustments are necessary or possible. 1998 Pontiac Bonneville SLE will turns over but will not run

I would check to see if the spark plugs are fouled. Or you might have a bad ignition control module (mounted under the coil packs). Auto Zone can test the ignition control module.

Someone crossed spark plug wires i need fireing

It is stamped on the top of the engine, in the head. It is usually pretty easy to find, and you wont have to remove any pieces to see it.

I need to get the schematics to the ingnition wiring . I own a96' pontiac bonneville and everytime I start it ,or try to,the engine starts only then to immediately shut off.I have a friend who works on...

Sounds like the security system is engaged. If the security light is flashing with the key on, leave the key on till it stops flashing (about 10 or 15 minutes) then once it glows steady try and start it. The chip on those is in the tumbler assembly and you can change that if necessary then re-set it. You don't need a schematic for that and it is a classic symptom. It's easy to try and wont cost you anything if it just needs a re-set.

How to program a keyless remote for a Pontiac

NOTE: You must have the correct part number on the remote for it to work. The part number you need is 15732803.
Transmitter programming per the GM manual:
Before entering the programming mode, verify the possession of all the transmitters you will be using on the vehicle. Once you program the transmitter, the memory erases the other transmitters. You may program up to 4 transmitters.
  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch
  2. Usa a fused jumper (3 amp is sufficient) and connect terminal 8 (back/white wire) to terminal 4 (black wire)
  3. Close all the doors
  4. Turn ON the ignition switch / the doors will lock
  5. Press and hold the following buttons on one of the transmitters for 30 seconds: lock and unlock
  6. After a 30 second delay, the doors will lock and unlock Important:
DO NOT turn OFF the ignition . If the switch is turned OFF the first transmitter becomes inoperative.
  7. In order to program extra transmitters repeat Step 5
  8. Disconnect the fused jumper wire from the data link connector
  9.  Turn off ignition
  10. Verify functions of all programmed transmitters.

This should work for the 1997 and 1999 Bonneville's. Good Luck. Keep me posted, be glad to answerer any other questions you may have.

1993 pontiac bonneville wont start

For the fuel injectors to pulse (open and deliver fuel to the engine) they need a command from the computer. The computer gets information/signal to operate the injectors from the ignition module. The ignition module receives its information from the crank and camshaft position sensors. For the computer to pulse the injectors yet the engine is not running indicates there is an erratic signal being created. About the only way this can happen is if there is a bad ground wire. The computer, ignition module and sensors rely on a good power supply to operate. But more importantly these systems require a good electrical ground. There are several ground wires that are dedicated to these components. Failure of just one of these wires can send the system into total chaos. The result is a confusing condition much like you’re describing. Prove the condition of the grounds and you’ll likely be up and running again.
