Question about 2005 Mini Cooper
My air bag light has come on I am a few weeks away from service is there any fix ?
The airbag system will need to be serviced by the dealership or a body shop that is capable of servicing that vehicle.
You need a special scan tool to access that codes on that vehicle.

With the huge increase in electronics, some of them not that well designed, it isn't uncommon to receive a warning in error. Check your owner's guide for instructions on resetting warning lights and try it. If it resets the light and it doesn't return, it was a hiccough, not an equipment problem. If it does reset but comes back again, it's time for service and air bags are fussy widgets; don't try troubleshooting it yourself, you may cause it to go off without reason. BTW, these things are very costly when replaced and a favorite for thieves to steal.

SOURCE: air bag light
there is a wire that is attached via your seatbelt latch that runs under the seat.
It will make a "DING" sound when the seatbelt is unlatched and the the door is open.
Find the wire and pull it out then complete the circuit by wrapping the 2 wires together and maybe throw a little tape on em!
Or you could just pull the fuse for that sensor. haha

all you need to do is make sure you disconnect the negative battery terminal.reconnect after 5 mins. if it doesnt go away, then you have a problem with airbag system.

First of all you need to get this problem fixed ASAP. While the airbag light is illuminated, your SDM (Sensing and Diagnostic Module aka: the brain of your airbag system) shuts of power to the airbags. In which, if you are in an accident your airbags will not deploy while this light is illuminated. You need to take your vehicle to a GM dealership. A Tech 2 scantool is needed to retrieve the code from the SDM. Hopefully it won't be a costly repair, but is something that defineatly needs to be corrected soon. Good luck and hope all works well.

Under the front seats you have wires going to your seat belt anchors. These wires are atached to a sensor witch activate the air bags if the anchors have force pull on them. The wires have plugs under the seat.Disconnect the plugs and spray with electical cleaner and replace.Make sure the ignition is switched off befor you attemt doing.90%of the time this will work.good luck.
