Thats a pretty involved question. There are 2 timing chains, a primary and a secondary. You should invest in a repair manual or check one out at the library. There is 2 much info you will miss otherwise.

The starter is on the left side of the engine, near the firewall, kind of below the battery. You can follow the positive side of the battery cable to the starter.

It's probably a switch... the switches are located such that drinks contaminate the contacts... if you are careful you can spay some contact cleaner in to the switch and then exercise the switch....that might fix it.
