Brakes or wheel bearings, a shop should be able to diagnose one or the other, maybe both.

First check your brakes and front wheel bearings ASAP. Drive the car as little as possible to prevent further damage. Depending on what you find the solution can be expensive if and more so if driving is continued.

Have your front brakes check, sound like its the rotors grinding to a worned out pad ASAP. you don't want to drive it to long on those train sound. the chance is are, the worned pad may have chew up the rotors, if the rotor is too much chew up, and cant machine turn it, you will to buy a new rotor. if you need to get brakes and pad, ebay has 2 front pads and rotors cheap for 34.00 bucks plus shipping 33.00, total 67.00 bucks and if you can get your nearest auto part to come close or better than get it. hope that help.

1.Check the front brakes. See if the brake pads are so worn down that the brake pad backing plate, (Metal), is grinding against the rotor. (Check both sides)

2.Check the CV joints. Your Skylark has a transverse engine, with a transaxle. (Engine sits sideways)
The transaxle is connected to the wheels via stub axles, and has a CV joint at the transaxle side, as well as the wheel side.

Check your outer cv joint boot and see if it is severely torn. It sounds like the cv joint is about to come apart, especially if you notice the noice being more pronounce when turning one way or another.

sounds like you possibly broke a ball joint...jack up the wheel and see if it has a lot of side play...do up and down also. if not sure i would i would have it checked by a mechanic...have you ever seen those cars on the side of the road with the front wheel collapsed!! you want to be on the safe side.

That sludge. Isnt that why you are cleaning it? That passage should have a vacuum on it when the engine is running, you may need a stiff wire and carb cleaner to clean it

Problem with an axel or transmission 1993 buick skylark

sounds like a major slippage of the gears in the transmission... if either of you are mechanically inclined the easiest to check would be the axle gearbox so do so first look for stripped gears. honestly to me it sounds like a transmission problem... if you can get it to a transmission repair shop they will usually test drive or listen to it and for free will tell you if its the transmission or axle.

Car hissing sound

The noise maybe the p/s pump fluid return,GM had some problem with this but nothing bad. GM makes a resticter that goes in the return line of the pump, it will slow the fluid down going back in the pump stopping the hissing sound.
