Where should I look to resolve a P0204 error code on a 2004 VW Beetle?

Fuel in the injector harness can result in a short causing this code. The only way for fuel to be there is a leaky injector. Dry off harness and monitor. Even though the injector is new, it may be defective. The next place to look is the wiring harness itself. You will have to find where the wiring for #4 injector goes into the vehicles computer and perform a resistance test from the injector harness to the computer to make sure there is no high resistance/opens. If all checks out fine, the computer may be bad. VW computer failure rates are extremely low. I would concentrate on a wiring issue.

How do I check my fuel injectors to make sure they are good on a 1987 z28

one wire has battery voltage when the key is on and the other wire at the injector is ground circuit which is controlled by the ECM and pulses as the ECM grounds the circuit. you can test the ohms of the injector but this won`t show a bad injector as resistance only needs 1 strand of wire that is good to give a reading. the ohms reading should be about 25-30 ohms I think.

Have a 97 Mitsubishi eclipse gs. idles rough at a stop but runs smooth once I give it gas. Check engine light is on. had scanned and all it reads is cylinder 1 misfire. Any ideas?

Guessing you have a diagnostic trouble code of P0301. I would start by checking the spark plug first but the most common causes for a single misfire in your vehicle would be a bad fuel injector or bad spark plug wire. Now I am going by you have the basic Eclipes GS and not the GS-T with a turbo and that you have a 2.0 liter with dual overhead cams. You can check the injector with an ohm meter simply by unpluging it and checking the reisistance from one terminal to the other on the injector (see picture below). The resistance should be between 11 & 15 ohms. If it's not within specs, then it is bad and you need to replace it. In most cases the plug in that cylinder will be black as well when you check it but that's not always the case. If that tests out good I would visualy inspect the spark plug wire for that cylinder to see if it arching out soemwhere. There are so many aftermarket plug wires that there really isn't a full proof way of checking it. According the the specs for the wires as if it had OEM spec wires would be 3,000 to 12,000 ohms per foot of resistance when checking end to end with an ohm meter. These are the things I would start checking and if I was a betting man I would guess the injector was bad. Hope this helps

Intermentantly stops running at stop lights

a very common problem .you have 6 fuel injectors that are like tiny electrical solenoids.with a resistance of about 12.4 ohms.there is probably one that is not ohming out correctly probably around 7.5ohms or so .please take to a trusting shop so each injector can be ohmed out.if low they will have to replace the bad injector or injectors.when they become lower resistance they will short out and shut off the injector driver in the computer then it will stall some times wont start back right away!

The num. 2 injector stays open

you will need to unplug the suspected bad injector. Then using a multi-meter on the lowest ohm setting check the resistance between both pins. A good working injector has a range of 12-15 ohms. If the resistance is higher just replace the injector.

The SECURITY LIGHT is ON on the dash??

the resister on the key is not being read by the contacts inside the ignition switch. disassemble the key switch with new springs and contacts or follow the two purple wires down the steering wheel and match the ohms on the key with a made resister and short the two purple wires out. No more security light no more sitting and waiting 5 minutes to try to start your car again.
