Brake lights dont work

Check the brake light switch, it is down on the brake pedal lever, you can dis-connect the wire connector at the brake light switch and check for broken wires at the connector, and then jumper the connector with a paper clip, if the brake lights come on then replace your brake light switch.

There might be more than one switch attached to the brake light pedal lever, the brake light switch usually only has two wires going to it when there are two switches.

If there is no problem with the brake light switch then you can suspect the turn-signal switch to be at fault, as all of the running lights, turn-signals, brake lights, and hazard lights are all ran through the turn-signal switch. You can also try stepping on the brake pedal and wiggle around the turn-signal switch and see if the brake lights flicker or come on.

The brake lights on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't shut off.

The brake light switch is defective or out of adjustment. More than likely located on the brake pedal arm near the top.

The lever that operate's the parking brake shoes does not expand the shoes. It is very rusty and I am wondering if it is siezed up? Is this lever supposed to pivit in the middle? This is for a 97 Jeep Grand...

If there is absolutley no movement in the shoes when a helper pulls the brake, the cable may be broken. You would be able to feel it if the cable was stuck. It could be that it needs adjusted. Buy a manual for your car and make sure the cable is on all the proper supports also. Good Luck. (Hayne's Repair Manual at Autozone)

2000 jeep grand cherokee laredo has scrubbing noise coming from rear of vehicle and park brake does not engage

It sounds as though you have a frozen emergency brake cable. This usually will wear down the rear brake shoes to a point where they are metal to metal. Get them fixed asap.

Parkling Brake Console Light Stays On

Parking Brake Console Light Stays On The light is on because the brake fluid is low. The sensor in the brake fluid reservoir is signaling low fluid. This may be because leaking or the brake pads/shoes are worn down, so check to see if they needs replacement. In the mean time you can add brake fluid.

The Parking brake switch is activated by the brake handle. If you use a flashlight you may be able to see it next to the handle.
