Question about 2006 Kia Rio

1 Answer

Trouble starting when i run the air conditioner or defroster or just the fan, and then turn off the car and then go to start it again after shopping etc the car makes the start sound then it stops for 3-4 seconds then it starts and as the day wears on depending on how many times i stop and start it gets worse. If I leave the air in the on postiion the car has a tough time starting. I have been thru 3 batteries in less than 3 years. I think somehow the cooling system draws abnormally from the battery. The dealer cannot find anything wrong?

SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE THE ALTERNATOR NOT CHARGING AT PEAK UNDER A LOAD WITH THE A/C ON, OR A STARTER DRAWING TO MANY AMPS.

Air conditioner fan runs all the time. Turn on key the fan starts. Car is not hot, has been sitting overnight Question how to turn off so it only works with the AC

I would suspect a stuck cooling fan relay. Your going to have to locate the malfunction to get the operation that you seek. Reference owners manual for lcoation of the cooling fan relay and try switching it out.

The heater works but when the defrosters are

The Air conditioner compressor is seizing when the compressor clutch trys to engage. When you put on the defroster the air conditioner automatically comes on to take humidity out of air.

The right hand cooling fan is allways on when the ignition is on, even during start up in the morning. changed the teperature sending unit to the ecu,(the big plug one) and the relays in the fuse box under...

Try turning the air conditioner off. Some fans run while the air is on. Most cars are made so the air conditioner runs in most of the heater settings. The fan blows draws air through the condenser so the air conditioner will work right It changes the freon from a gas to a liquid.

Heater problem

is your heater set on defrost this will cause your engine fan to run because it turns on the compressor for air conditioner this helps to extract moisture from your warm air defrost  and the fan in the engine compartment helps keep it the engine cool from the extra load on the engine this is normal

AC/heat/defrost functions don't work

there is a blend door and a selector door in the HVAC system. These are run by vacuum or servo motors. Sounds like this little motor is your problem. Hope this helps you.
