Hi,
a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Mechanic (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

I can't start my 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee with either key fob. Once I got a "Service Security Key" message. Another time I got the "Key not programmed - Damaged key" message. What...

Hi Hal,

Did you ever get this resolved? Looks like you didn't get any feedback here! I'm having the same issue sporadically. I turn the key and nothing. Usually if I keep trying it will eventually start cranking and start. Usually within 10 - 15 tries. happened last night. After it started, I got the "Service Security Key" message. I looked in the manual and it does say what that means. Don't know if it is programming (probably not because the fob works 97% of teh time) or maybe just a dying battery. If you can share anything you might have founf out I'd appreciate it! thanks!

Can a 98 jeep grand cherokee 4.0l perminant 4+4 run without the front propshaft

The front propshaft on my full time 4 wheel drive 94 Grand Cherokee was vibrating badly years ago so I removed it and my Jeep has driven just fine without it since, no vibrations.Doesn't seem to cause any harm that I know of.

MY 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS A BRAKE LIGHT ISSUE. THE BRAKE LIGHTS WORK UNTIL THE HEAD LAMPS ARE TURNED ON, THEN THE RIGHT BRAKE LAMP BECOMES TOTALLY INOP. POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS?

Pretty common problem if you have a weak or bad ground, check all the ground connections by the back lights.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee battery will drain

Ditto here on a 2005 jeep. We bought it new and found the battery dead on a few mornings the first year. Nothing left on. Did the new alternator thing about 2 yrs. ago and a few batteries along the way. This is what we noticed..... If you leave a CD in the CD player, that is the prime little devil that sucks out the juice. Now, we never turn off the car while a CD is in the dash. Now, maybe not necessary every time, but always overnight and now by habit, all the time, we make sure there is no CD inserted when the car is off. Hope this helps.

Check the fuel sender relay. I had the opposite problem in a truck I had - would not start when hot, fine when cold. Went to a shop and they quoted me $850 to fix - went to Pep Boys, ordered the relay for about $10 and never had the problem again.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee remote not working

The control unit above the mirror usually can be removed entirely and then you just have a "normal" vehicle without the option (i did one not long ago and it's fine actually we removed it because the space was used for a radar detector, otherwise it probably could have stayed there). If you can find a complete unit including remotes in a salvage yard, it can easily be installed.
The $160 is exactly what I was told as well!
