Depends on where the leak is if its a hose easy. If its the intake gaskets, difficult. First have to find the leak. A can of carb spray works great for this. Spray around suspected areas. Engine will change idle speed when you find the leak.

No, all that has to be done, is find which hose is leaking and replace it.

I have a service engine soon light on and have hooked up an OBD11 reader to it and got code P0410 pertaining to a secondary air injection problem. hoses are fine, pump is new.

P0410 Oldsmobile - Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction

Possible causes: - Faulty Vacuum hoses damaged
- Faulty Air Pump inoperative
- Air bypass solenoid harness is open or shorted
- Air bypass solenoid circuit poor electrical connection
- Air bypass solenoid leaking/blocked or stuck open/closed
- Air diverter valve leaking/blocked or stuck open/closed

Tech notes: Visually inspect AIR pump and AIR bypass valve harness and connector, if connector are OK, then replaced AIR bypass valve.

When is the code detected? The secondary air injection system does not detect the presence of air in the exhaust when introduced by the secondary air injection system.

Possible symptoms: - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Engine hesitation

P0410 Oldsmobile Description An air pump is used on the vehicle to lower tail pipe emissions on start-up. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) grounds the Air pump relay control circuit which energizes the Air pump. The PCM also grounds the Air combination valve vacuum control solenoid circuit, which energizes the Air vacuum control solenoid. Vacuum is then applied to both Air combination valve diaphragms which opens the shut off valves. The PCM enables both circuits simultaneously when Air system operations id desired. When the AIR system is active, then Air pump forces fresh air into the exhaust stream in order to accelerate catalyst operation. The AIR combination valves replace the conventional check valves. When the AIR system is inactive the shut off valves prevent air flow in either direction.

What does code PO108 mean on a 2001 Grand Cherokee

wow , you actually tried to look it up, a 1st time here.

the MAP is a baro sensor used to calculate fuel injection RATES.

if you have gross air leaks to the system the engine IDLE screams.

is it?

108 means the voltage is too high.

usually its unplugged, or bad sensor.

otential causes of a P0108 code: Bad MAP sensor Leak in vacuum supply line to MAP sensor Engine vacuum leak Short on signal wire to PCM Short on reference voltage wire from PCM Open in ground circuit to MAP Worn engine causing low vacuum

Bad MAP sensor Leak in vacuum supply line to MAP sensor Engine vacuum leak Short on signal wire to PCM Short on reference voltage wire from PCM Open in ground circuit to MAP Worn engine causing low vacuum

http://www.obd-codes.com/p0108

and last. but before ECU.

low engine compression, is 1 more, causes , many

what i do is reseat the MAP sensor

i then make sure he vacuum port is not clogged. (both sides)

i then measure the output , keyon, and idle and gunning throttle.

any Voltmeter works here,

key on is 5v or near.

idle 1.8v

gun engine as the RPMs fall like a rock the volts tries to hit 0.5vdc.

http://www.fixkick.com/look/odds-ends/jeep/MAP-sensor-output-real.jpg

very very easy to find with a voltmeter

if the meter agrees with vacuum gage, then the MAP is ok

and you have air leaks or low vacuum for (VAST reasons)

ask.

P0171 system too lean bank 1

check for secondary air injection leaks, seals and plastic loom hoses go bad due to underhood engine heat. Performance trick is to wrap the exhaust in headder wrap to control underhood heat and save parts in long run. Also, vacuum check at the intake to test for leaks, Check injector o rings.

Diagnostic Aides for DTC P0171 for 2001 ford expedition

This is a lean code. The ratio of air to fuel is higher than normal because of a leak. The engine is drawing extra air into the system.

With the engine running, take a spray water bottle and spray the seams of the intake manifold, vacuum solenoids, egr diaphragm, brake booster and anything related to vacuum.

When you find the leak, the rpm will change or the motor will stall. Then fix what dfect you find.

Please rate my info.

2003 VW Passat wagon 1.8 turbo, the check engine lite came on and the code is po411. how to fix without spending money I don't have

This code indicates that you have a faulty secondary air injection system. Basically this is a system in which pumped air is allowed into the exhaust system to help burn off any residual fuel droplets when the engine is warming up and thereby reduce hydrocarbon emissions. The 'injection of air' (opening of the valve) is by vacuum supplied by a thermally resistant over-braided vacuum line. Find your combi 'air injection' valve on the exhaust manifold and then check the integrity of the length of over-braided vacuum line. There is a good chance that the fault is merely a leak in this line (a poor end fitting) and this in turn is failing to supply the necessary vacuum to open the valve to allow pumped air into the exhaust. Hope this helps point you in the right direction.

Information about code P0171 on 2001 f-150 XL 4.2 V6 have put new injecters cleaned fuel tank new coilpack still has bad miss

PO171 is a lean fuel mixture fault code. It is not serious in most cases engine will run for years to come. The problem is caused by too much air or not enough fuel getting to the combustion chambers of the engine. There are so many causes that its hard to nail this one down. Basically your engine is sucking air in somewhere it is not supposed. Any vacuum leak will cause that. There are a lot of vacuum lines. These is usually a vacuum line diagram under the hood that will show you were they are. Also your EGR valve may not be working correctly. In smone cases the engine is pulling vacuum through valve stem seals and intake manifold gaskets. Vacuum lines and EGR are not very hard to check out as they are external engine parts. Gaskets and valve stem seals will require disassembling major parts of the engine.

Diagonostic trouble codes reported p0171 p0174 p0302 2001 Taurus, only reports P0171

P0171 is system too lean bank 1, P0174 is too lean bank 2, and 302 is misfire bank 1. Look for vacuum leaks. If you don't find them, put a vacuum gage on it can check. The P0171 is almost always a vacuum leak. If not other possibilities are front O2 sensor is too old and should be replaced (if mileage is greater than 100k then replace). Try injector cleaner. Misfires are usually bad spark plugs, but could possibly be caused by insufficient fuel. I've never had a car of mine in bad enough shape to have that error.
