Thanks. My fuse panel is on the passenger side in the footwell. There appear to be no blown fuses, everything else in the car works OK. Are you saying there maybe another fusebox?

  • leeharrison Sep 30, 2009

OK, apparently this is an 06 model, built in 2005. It only has one fuse box in the passenger footwell, this includes all the engine fuses. No blown fuses in here.

  • leeharrison Sep 30, 2009

I have a lincoln navigator built jan 2005 and registered in England 1n 2007. Support over here is poor for the lincoln. I have a problem with my mirrors in that they do not fold. All other electrics in the car work OK, mirrors adjust and work OK with the memory function, in that they adjust to each drivers position. The only problem i have is they wont fold at all when toggling the fold switch.

  • leeharrison Oct 01, 2009

Thanks, I tried the WD40 trick, I also opened up one mirror. Although the WD 40 did nothing I did find a square black module in the mirror that appears to drive the folding motor. Without knowing what this is I cannot test it. The vehicle was registered in Jan 2007, and only has 7000 miles on it, can these mirrors really be faulty after such a short period? Do you have a wiring diagram for the mirrors?

    Thanks

    Lee

  • leeharrison Oct 01, 2009

Thanks. I checked those fuses and actually pulled them to double check. I fitted new ones as a precaution. No joy. Its strange as every other function with the mirrors is OK, I can adjust each of them, and set each one differently with the memory button, that works too. They do adjust to each memory position. Its just the folding part. I had a quick look at the wires in the door boot, do you have a diagram? or a switch voltage diagram so i can check the actual switch.

  • leeharrison Oct 01, 2009

Hi, Yes, the part of the switch that connects to the folding function does go into the drivers mirror, there are 2 wires in the mirror that disapear into the corner pivot. I assume those are the motor wires. Ford told me if it didn't have folding mirrors it wouldn't have the folding switch, just the adjustable part of the switch, they are different part numbers apparently.

  • leeharrison Oct 01, 2009

Thanks for your help, I will take a look at those in the morning. I dont have a fax unfortunately, can you tell me which wire is grounded when switch is in fold or unfold? This may turn out to be a switch problem.

  • leeharrison Oct 02, 2009

Thanks to everyone who helped me here. I will try and obtain a switch, but being in the UK means I will have to order one in.

    thanks again

  • Press the solo auto fold mirror switch to fold the mirrors in
  • Press the switch down again to auto unfold the mirrors back out
Check to see if the fuse #109 is burned out. I don't believe both power mirror motors have failed on your vehicle so it should just be a blown out fuse. Also look for a pinched wire around the seat causing a short to the seat frame every once in a while when the seat is in the right place. The power folding mirrors, memory seat, and drivers seat movement are all tied into together.

Okay these are controlled by the power mirror folding switch and module and they are powered all the time. you need to check the fuses in central junction box. check fuse f1.22 that is a 10 amp fuse and check fuse f1.3 that is a 7.5 amp fuse. they both need to be good make sure. if they are then you may have a broken wire in the door jam boot on the drivers side let me know how you make out and if you need more help! will be glad to. good luck

so you do have folding mirrors right? i looked at the diagram and looks to me like there is a purple w/yellow and a purple w. lite green. are those the colors of the wires that disappear in the mirror? is so those are them. i can send a diagram but only through a fax so if you have a fax let me know and i will send it. if not i can explain more if you have more question.

oh yea one other thing remember the switch rests at ground so if you test those wires without pressing switch then you should have ground and if you press the switch one way then one of the wires should show positive voltage and other show ground.

Check the fuse panel. The mirrors are motorized and may have just blown a fuse. First thing to check. The fuse panel is usually down under the dash on drivers side. Also, call the dealer if you need any other tips, they will have something for you.

Yes, most vehicles have a box under the hood, black plastic box containing more fuses and relays for controlling other devices like fuel pump, etc.

I saw some other posts you had, is there a power problem to the button and the dash? I'm not sure I have the whole story?? Did you go to the link I gave you about the shift motor?

    Disregard that last post.
Call the dealer and ask for any information they may have on the mirror issue. They have probably seen this before you. Other wise it's going to be a difficult fix to do yourself. I do think it's a fuse or relay issue because 'both mirrors' do not work.

If the mirrors work from the 'memory control' then the motors are fine. It has to be the control switch at the arm rest. Is there a 'lock button' for the mirrors?

There are no parts that can be replaced in these mirrors except the glass element, they are not built to be taken apart, it is very difficult to get them to fold, esp. is they have never been folded, try carefully spraying the pivot point with WD 40 spray, if that doen't work you will need to replace the mirrors.
My background is 25 years at a Ford/Lincoln dealer

you work for ford So why sell a part for 50 bucks when you can sell the whole mirror and rip a customer off for 600 these mirrors are VERY easy to fix and can be done with out even remove them off the doors all by just removing the puddle light and blinker covers

I have a 2004 lincoln navigator and my mirrors doesnt work and the drivers seat also i think is a fuse but i dont have the owners manual can you help me where the fuses for this functions are

The mirrors and seat are controlled by the DRM, Driver seat module. It also controls other stuff, memory seat & mirror positions.

go to motorcraft.com, pro center, tech info, owner manual and ou can read your manual on line. It is Ford's site for customers.

2003 gmc mirrors do not fold in

The power mirrors are controlled by a module (computer) DDM - drivers door module an the PDM - passenger door module .
Folding Mirror System
Folding Mirror System Controls
The folding mirror system requires signals from 2 separate switches. The mirror select switch must be in the neutral/fold position and the mirror direction switch must be activated to the left/extend or right/retract positions. Both switches are integrated into the DDM and provide direct signals.
Folding Mirror System Operation
Upon receipt of the required switch inputs the DDM will supply battery voltage and ground to the mirror fold motor control circuits to perform the requested extend or retract function. The DDM will also send a class 2 message to the PDM indicating the requested function. The PDM will supply battery voltage and ground to the mirror fold motor control circuits to perform the requested extend or retract function.

Power Mirror System
Power Mirror System Components
The power mirror system consists of the following components:
• The driver door module--Class 2 module with integrated switches and requires programming when replaced
• The passenger door module--Class 2 module with integrated switches, requires programming when replaced and also contains the RFA receiver
• The power mirror direction switch--Integrated into DDM and is a 4-position momentary switch that provides a signal input to the DDM for up, down, left/extend and right/retract with a mirror switch activation
• The mirror select switch--Integrated into DDM and is a 3-position switch that allows the operator to select the left or right mirror and also a neutral/fold position
• The left outside power mirror--Contains both the vertical and horizontal mirror motors and is serviced as a complete mirror assembly
• The right outside power mirror--Contains both the vertical and horizontal mirror motors and is serviced as a complete mirror assembly
• The body control module--Class 2 module that requires programming when replaced, serves as the power mode master and is the main message handler
• The DDM 10A fuse--Located in the I/P fuse block and is hot at all times
• The PDM 10A fuse--Located in the I/P fuse block and is hot at all times
• The memory switch, if equipped with memory mirrors--Supplied power by the DDM and provides a voltage signal to the DDM upon a switch activation
• The horizontal and vertical position sensors, if equipped with memory mirrors--Supplied a 5-volt and low reference by the DDM/PDM and provide a variable voltage signal to the DDM/PDM that is proportional to mirror position
• The park neutral position switch, if equipped with memory mirrors--Provides transmission gear selection information to the PCM and is used for memory recall and mirror tilt in reverse functions
• The powertrain control module, if equipped with memory mirrors--Class 2 module that requires programming when replaced and provides Class 2 message indicating transmission gear selection
• The driver information center (DIC), if equipped with memory mirrors--Part of the instrument cluster which is a Class 2 module that requires programming when replaced and is used to personalize the memory recall and mirror tilt in reverse functions
• Fold motor in each of the outside mirrors, if equipped with power fold mirrors--Provides extend and retract movements of the mirror and is serviced as a complete mirror assembly
Each of the outside power mirrors contains 2 reversible motors to provide horizontal and vertical movement of the mirror glass. The vertical motor operates the up and down directions and the horizontal motor operates the left and right directions. If equipped with power folding mirrors, each outside power mirror will contain a reversible fold motor to operate the extend and retract functions. Each of the mirror motors are circuit breaker protected.
DTC B1722
The driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) switch the mirror fold motor control circuits to battery voltage and ground in response to mirror extend or retract command.

Hummer H2 Power folding mirror won't fold

The power folding function of your exterior mirrors on your '04 H2 depends on a plastic gear to collapse those mirrors at the touch of a button. That plastic gear strips very easily. The service adviser at our Hummer dealership said that problem was rectified in later model years with a redesign of of the collapsing mechanism of those mirrors.

I don't mind manually folding our mirrors, and I was afraid to ask about the cost of the parts required to solve the issue. The service guy didn't volunteer the cost of the fix. Not typically covered by aftermarket extended service/warranty plans.
