Sounds like you may have a worn out CV joint and the clicking may stop with an oil change. Good Luck

Check the fluid level in the tranny. If that is good try servicing the tranny with a new filter if that dosen't work I would think that the torque converter may be acting up.

I would also check the Transmission 'switch' ( A / M) on center console next to your Shifter... My 328 just started this symptom... when changing from Rev. to Drive, it goes into 'Winter' mode.. (M) and feels like its slipping... Just press the "A" side of the button...and it should shift normally.. of course, then there's a problem with the switch ! bout $90... g

I have an e39 2001 525i bmw. It runs in reverse fine, but accelerates slow and I have to wait for the gears to switch before picking up speed. I'm hoping it's not a transmission issue. Please help.

Are you saying it won't accelerate if you boot it? Can you explain the problem better. What have you done so far? Are the trans levels OK? When it accelerates is the engine revving out of synch with the speed you are going? ie Does it feel like something is slipping?

1996 bmw z3 automatiuc transmission. It feels like my drivwe shaft is rumbling where it meets my diferential. Only when I accelerate quickly from a stop.

the rear universal is probably gone bad at rear of drive shaft. does it clunk when shifting from park into drive, get under vehicle, when it is turned off. you can leave it in park. grab drive shaft and see if you can wiggle it. if so its the universal joint on drive shaft.put on e-brake before getting under it. if it is bad, its best to change both front and back universals. Good-day!

either your rear driveshaft is missing, your rear axle is pooched. the same transmission drives both ends.

I have a Semi-Automatic 2005 BMW e46 318i. The engine randomly cuts out (stalls) when decellerating, coming to a stop, or when stopped. Other than this problem the car drives fine, and the engine starts up...

The problem you are having sounds suspiciously like the torque converter is not disengaging to allow your engine to spin freely until you are ready to accelerate. If when decelerating or coming to a stop you feel a jerking sensation similar to driving a vehicle with a manual transmission and bringing the vehicle to a stop without depressing the clutch, then the problem you are having is faulty Torque Converter Control Solenoid or a bad Torque Converter itself. If you have any other questions please contact me here. Good luck.
