Question about 1991 Ford Ranger Supercab
How do I back flush a heater core with a water hose on a 1991 Ford Ranger?
Where is the thermostat?
The thermostat is on both v8 and straight 6 engines are where the top hose goes to the engine and the thermostat is held on with 2 bolts (and make sure it goes back in the same way as it comes out).
But to wash out the heater core well there are 2 5/8" hoses going into the firewall and can be either 2 togeather or one either side of the engine but they are 5/8" hoses, and 1/2" on the early engines, nearest to radiator and turn heater switch to hot with engine running then turn it off and remove the hoses and put the hose flush with the heater hose and turn it on to flush out ,,refit hoses refill with COOLANT. start and test run..

Follow the two rubber hoses from the firewall to where they connect to the motor. disconnect them and flush through both of them. whichever one you start with first dont point the empty hose at you becuz the water will be coming out of it.
follow the large hose from the top of the radiator to where it claps to the engine. unclamp it, remove the nipple it was clamped to and there will be the thermostat
