Check fuel filter to see if its clogged. (cheapest easiest)
if that doesnt work rebuild carburetor (expensive but fairly simple)
if that doesnt work pull tank if it is low on gas or pull bed if gas tank is full a replace fuel pump (time consuming, hard to do, but fairly inexpensive) I had this problem on a silverado I had and it was the fuel pump.

My car wont start sometime, my motor does turnover but it wont fire. it seems like its my gas pump

Try cleaning the throttle plate, where the flapper is. Carbon buildup where it closes. Air entering engine after the mass air flow meter will keep from starting easy. Computer doesn't like air it doesn't know about.

I ran outta gas on my 1998 chevy silverado v.6 vortec. i put more gas in it and pumped the accelerator a few times and it still wont start. how can i fix it is it simple

Best way to fix it when you run out of gas is this. Because you ran out of gas, means your fuel filter is out. When you run out of gas, you end of getting like a air blockage in the line. Now, professional way is to take fuel filter off and fill with gas and put back on, BUT i will tell you a back yard mechanic secret way. Is get a can of starting fluid ( you can get at any auto parts store) and while someone is in side the Pickup, have them ready to turn the key. You are outside with the hood up, and you will be spraying a little bit of the starting fluid in the air intake of directly in carb area ( if carborated) but just spray into air intake. Have them crank the engine, at same time you will spray starter fluid in air intake, just a couple of quick sprays. You will notice it will start and maybe die again. That is normal, you might have to do this a couple times to get things flowing. HOWEVER, what normally happens when you run out of gas, the fuel filter picks up all that junk that has been gathered in the bottom of fuel tank and it has clogged your filter. FOR SURE, if you replace your fuel filter, it will solve this problem. Thank You, and I hoped this helped you.

Car has had its problems. it just died one day we checked spark plugs, everyone thinks it's the fuel pump. we turn the key and hear nothing flowing i had someone under the back of the car. changed the fuel...

Put gas into your carborator. Try to start the car. If it catches and dies, it is fuel related. If not, it is something else. It could be a lot of things. Sorry. But, you need to make sure the engine is not getting gas. Cora, do you have a check engine light on? If you can rule the gas out, you can check other things in the engine. The only way to check without a code, is to check them one by one. I will help you as much as I can. There is probably 20 things it could be. We can start with the common problems first. Check your fuel and let me know. My name is rickyrt44. If you have any questions, contact me. The pressure in the pump may have caused it not to turn on. Spray it into the carborator. If it starts and dies instantly, that is your problem. Thank you for schoosing FixYa. Good luck.

1991 Cadillac Brougham not getting gas

The fuel pump is located on the frame undrneath the passenger side rear door.If you have the throtle body injection used on the 305 engine the electric fuel pump puts out about 8 psi.
Sounds like you have a clogged fuel pump. Not that bad to change if you have the special tool needed to remove the fuel lines to the pump. Ask your local Auto parts store for help.

1995 maxima GL. I've noticed that the car has

mcdevito75 here you should first start out with a complete tune up, if your car hasn't had one in at least 1 year then you work from there. Your problems could be many things and to replace 1 at a time will cost more than a tune up in the long run, much more.

Won't start

What rat tat tat? If you mean the clicking sound, that means that the battery connection is probably corroded or the cable is bad. Clean it up with a tool. Any auto parts store ... about $3. If it is a whine, the starter is bad. If there is a solid click and no turnover, it might be the solenoid relay...but I doubt it. How to get an idea: turn on the headlights and hit the key...if the lights dim significantly, your battery might be bad. If not, check for corrosion or that solenoid. Find out why that light is on!
