I had an injector go bad on me a short time ago , and the exaust was as black as a tug boat , took four hrs to fix , and 200.00 for the injector .
it was explaned to me that when the injector goes bad it does not atomize the fuel , so the cylinder floods and the fouling fuel comes out as black as pitch , its not good to run it like this for long and i was also told it can damage the engine costing even more .sorry . get it checked at a dealer ship they are realy your only hope for any kind of computer related work or sensor work . that can cause this to happen as well .

Black smoke is coming out from the exhaust it starts right up but the idle is up and down

Black smoke means it's running rich, which could be leaky injector(s), bad coolant temps sensor, poor spark, bad plugs, bad fuel pressure regulator, and many others.

My 1995 chevy s-10 2.2 4 cylinder runs terribly when I start it...but after a few minutes, it is fine. I have changed the thermostat, but still only gets to around 160 degrees....feels like it is choked?

'95, I would change the fuel filter. Don't forget to release the fuel line pressure by removing the fill cap. This doesn't address the temp problem but first things first.

2003 BMW 325 I won't start. Black smoke from exhaust and stalled

Hi. This is a common fault with m50/52/52tu engines. Engine is flooded because you did not warm it up. Must be out of blue on temp gauge be for you turn off.

Black smoke from exhaust but computor saying 44.5 mpg around town. 2.0ltr. mondeo deisel

Your duplicate question did not say it was a diesel.
Usually black smoke on a diesel is dirty injectors or the engine temp not reaching normal range.

Why is my cadillac 4.5 engine smoking

What color smoke ? Blue = oil burning , black = too much fuel (rich) white = coolant - blown head gasket ,cracked head or block . White also could be caused fuel running through the engine , no combustion !

1991 buick park ave black smoke coming out of exhuast! Can u help

You probably have a service engine light on too. It sounds like your CTS (coolant temp sensor) isn't working and causing the injectors to run rich.
