The cruise control stopped working this morning. The car is in excellent condition otherwise, however it has 159,000 miles on it. Think it's just worn out? Is there a fuse that I could replace?

Look for a fuse for the Cruise Control and compass.
Also, the fan for the heating and air conditioning usually wears out (brushes get worn out) and possibly requires a relay as well to make it work reliably.
I don't think the two conditions Cruise Control vs. the Ventilation Fan are related.
On the wagon versions that I have owned for 10yrs now, my cruise control would stop working at the same time my middle brake light on the rear window would stop working. They use the same circut. I have had success by claening all connection to and in the light housing.
90 Jeep choerokee the speedo cable is held in place by a plastic retaining clip. If it was dislodged put it back. Otherwise if your car equiped with a cruise control then the speedo cable consits of two sections. Either one may go bad. (it's good for 200k miles)
