Question about 2001 Kia Sportage

We have a 2001 sportage the gas tank is seaping on the top. Recently it started to start harder( turns over longer before firing). Today the check engine light came on and the car misses like its starving for fuel.

I dont know why gas would be "seeping". if its leaking, thats a problem. have the fuel pressure checked, if its low, the tank will have to come down for possible fuel pump replacement, and the leak found and corrected at the same time (possibly the fuel line is leaking back there?)

put enough gas like five gallons and start turning over till it starts not good pump when you run out of gas when fuel tank is low fuel pump works harder so if it starts great if it doesn't you might need a fuel pump e3mail back if that happens good luck

Engine won't start, it turns over but dosen't seem to have any fire

if it was working fine and then stopped starting out of the blue, the first thing I would check, and a known issue with Sportages, is the 2 relay switches under the hood in the little box near the battery. They are square and the same size. You can swap the 2 that are there and if it starts, I would buy 2 new relays and replace them.

If that doesnt do the trick, make sure you can hear the fuel pump kick on when you turn the key to the on poisiotn but dont start it. if you dont hear a humm sound coming from the gas tank area, your fuel pump needs to be replaced.

CAR WILL NOT START TURNS OVER THATS ALL

I have a bad feeling that your fuel pump is gone or a wiring problem. the fuel filter if not on the outside then it's in the tank. Try to bang the tank when someone is cranking it over. If it starts you need a fuel pump

My Car won't start

Either the sending unit is bad in the tank, or you could have clogged fuel filter, or bad o2 sensors which would be on if your check engine light is on. I would first replace fuel filter, Also check fuel lines. Also if the check engine light is on, you could have bad fuel pressure regulator. You should check your fuel pressure at the fuel rail as well

Spitting gas out

i think i can help you with that my sportage has done the same thing to me. but you ethier have air in ur gas tank due to not tighting the cap all the way and driving it on anyhting under than a full tank, and the second thing might be the little metal flap in the to of the tube may be bent or not sealing all the way.
