You either have an 'idle speed' control problem controlled by one air valve or, you have an air leak in your 'inlet' / induction side of your engine.
Look for an air leak first.
Hope this helps.

I have a suzuki xl7 tht wont start and says service traction control service stability control dont know if it is the pass key 3 or just an ecm problem

no year stated. that is challenging
2 problems.
if it dont start , traction dont matter now so, will the engine crank over fast? if yes, is the spark good? on all cylinders?
how many miles on it?
which engine/
2.5 L (156 hp) a V6
2.7 L (185hp) V6

no starts.
Does the Check engine lamp glow key on,
Yes, good
no , fuse blown. (the PCM EFI brain must have power to run)

  1. does it crank? fast?
  2. check fuses yet. all fuses, related to EFI? and spark.
  3. Got spark at all 6? spark plugs. (tedious on C.O.P. cars)
  4. if above all ok, we try test fuel to see if you lost fueling.

If you take off the v belt on the alpha Romeo 156 2l twin spark and you start the engine does the water pump run with the engine.

It may move a bit from the coolant moving through the engine as it heats and cools but the belt is what powers it. Without the belt it's essentially useless.

My Alfa 156 tspark has developed an engine fault over the last week. when starting the engine it seemed to only be firing on three cylinders then would correct its self after a couple of minutes. now it...

check the spark plugs and leads if OK.
check for any water in the spark chamber.
if any of these there might be an ECU fault.
My opinion.. download the alfadiag software ,and buy yourself a usb to OBD-II plug (which is located near the steering wheel) to connect to your vehicle.
It will save you a lot of money.

My 156 t spark alfa romeo is cutting out over 3ooo rpm worst in reverse dont think its air flow meter seems to just die but will start again like a cut out switch

if u have to wait 10 min for it to cool down, then it starts again - i would go with crank sharf sensor replacement.

everyone on other forums said it would be this 100%.

i replaced it and so far touch wood.

35 pound part online and max 1hr to replace.

seems to common for 145,146,147,156 etc.

an air leak would weaken the mix of fuel to air so giving you better fuel efficiency but a poor power output.
was my last answer not to your liking, re **** fuel consumption on all fiat/alpha cars.but it is true, ask any owner........14.7 average mpg.......£205 road tax.....(tax it for a year and quadruple its value...)

1999 isuzu 3.2 misfire

This could be a problem with the spark plug wires. If resistance is high or the boots have carbon tracks, they could be causing spark to go places it shouldn't. Distributor cap?
Make sure places like that are clean and dry. Check for grease or dirt inside spark plug boots. If all else fails, open the hood in the dark and look for sparks jumping around the engine when you rev it up. If so, replace the plug wires.

i would change the knock sensor first. if that doesn't fix the problem then a complete tune up would be the next step. but if the sensor has no resistance that is where i would start
