Blue smoke in the exhaust

Have you checked your oil? If it is low add the oil but blue smoke usally means the motor is using oil could be the rings or broken rings you will have to check the compression in the cyl.

98 Subaru leaking oil

Oil leak will not change run temp but can cause a fire.
The smoke is the oil burning on the engine. The 1st thing you need to do is clean the oil off the engine.
Next top oil off to the full line on the dip stick. Now start the engine hold idle up to around 1600 rpm for 1 to 2 minutes keep engine run and look for the oil leak. Don't get caught in any moving parts and things will be hot so be careful. Most likely from your valve cover.

White smoke heavy when started and then goes away...drives and after awhile rides alittle rough..Iwas told it might be something else besides head gaskets....

Depends on how much smoke. A little puff that goes away quickly is no cause for concern the flat six engine does get oil deposits under the piston skirt when parked and is considered normal.

Excessive smoke (fogging for mosquites) indicates a failed oil \ air separator. Confirm by removing the oil fill cap with the engine running - if the vacuum tries to **** your hand into the oil tube, your separator is a goner.

Not excessively difficult to replace yourself. The part is about $300 and you can replace it in a couple of hours, it is located at the rear of the engine, passenger side, top.

My toyota vienta 3VZ-FE 1996 - oil leak onto exhaust

Hi,

That engine will leak oil from

- cam cover gaskets (rear one drips on the exhaust)
- camshaft end seals
- distributor shaft o-ring (appears on top of transaxle housing)
- oil filter bracket to block o-ring seal (drips on front bank exhaust)
- crankshaft nose oil seal (have done with timing belt change)
- rear main seal (expensive, leave it be)

Smoke comes from around engine

Probably a vavle cover gasket leak, small but enought to produce oil, in or on the surface of the motor doesnt take much to a lil smoke from aa hot engine...it could be collectiing in the canals ontop of the motor where the vlave covers sit on the head? or a head gasket problem....inspect it well after you run the car for a lil while, b4 it starts to smoke

White smoke from right side of motor

Check your oil, does it look like chocolate milk, if so you have blown a head gasket. Or you could just have a bad valve cover gasket, this allows oil to drain down onto the exhaust where it burns and as a result, white smoke. If you get enough of it, when you pull your plugs it will coat them in oil.

Excel 1.3 looks like it´s burning oil.-

first of all change spark plugs to the standards of the car ,, maybe you have bad spark plugs .. does your car have a white smoke in exhaust ? if so then its something has to be replaced inside 2 and 3 cyclinders thats an advanced failure
if you have no smoke in exhaust check top oil gasket .. when did you change it ?

Smoking wrx

Hi , I`m not sure about the 01 model but the 98 model got this roker cover gasket problem because it`s too close to the exhaust and with time can`t handle the heat.So when you rev the car , dropping oil on to the exhaust and one little drop of oil can make big smoke which coming up around the turbo. Hope this helps .
