Check spark plug wires to make sure they"re not miss-routed... start at the coils and work towards the plugs make real sure its got correct firing order sequence... it is usually posted on a label under the hood of most cars and also make sure they have a real good snap on connection both on coil and plugs and that the terminal posts on the coils are really clean! if this doesn't fix the problem then it probably is a timing chain might not be installed correctly. good luck to you! i hope its just a miss wire.
can you give me some feed back..i'm curious..thanks! a 40k mile car shouldn't need this kind of work..its practically brand new!!

My 2004 Taurus SES with less than 56K miles, had a leak of transmission fluid In my garage. I took it to Midas and they couldn't find anything wrong. However, a transmission specialist on site told my...

I'm going to make an assumption that this car has an automatic transmission.

First, a transmission is just like a cup. It only leaks if there's a hole in the bottom. If a little fluid overflowed someplace you can't see and left a little spot once, I wouldn't worry about it. If it continues to do it repeatedly however, I would say forget that Midas and take it to a shop that specializes in transmissions.

It could be as simple as an O-Ring in a fitting that's cracked and needs to be replaced, maybe 1 hour of labor and a 50 cent O-Ring. If it's only leaking when it's parked, it's probably a pan gasket. A 2004 Taurus is just about due for a transmission fluid/filter service anyway, which involves replacing the gasket.

Without seeing it myself, I can only guess though. Take it to a transmission specialist or a Ford dealer that's guaranteed to have a good eye for what's normal and what's not on your car.

If it isn't getting any worse, and you don't mind living with it how it is, just make sure the fluid is at the correct level. Learn the *correct procedure* for checking it from your owner's manual, check it frequently, and keep the fluid right where it's supposed to be. Just do that, and you'll prevent it from getting seriously damaged.

Transmission fluid flows out my dipstick . need help

If fluid is coming out the dipstick, it has to be over full. Usually, it will run out the breather first. If it hasn't been changed in the last 30 or 40,000 miles, change it or have it changed with the proper amount of fluid.

change the drive belt on the car if the car has over 40,000 miles and while you have the belt off have the alternator tested as while as the battery you may just have a bad cell in the battery

Right rear brake has slow brake fluid leak. It's a 99' Ford Taurus

leaking fluid will not cause a brake to lock up unless the wheel cylinder is leaking and caused the brake shoe to swell. If so, you need a new wheel cylinder.
