Question about 2003 Volvo V50

1 Answer

GPS screen does not rise and the audio system resets every few seconds (irregular intervals). When playing CDs this causes it to continually unload/reload the CD. On radio there is a crackling background noise. No difference if engine running or not. Exchanging GPS unit and Radio/CD player makes no difference.

Would sound plausible but problem is exactly the same with the car moving or stationary. So a bad contact does not seem likely. Garage told me they swapped in (separately) new GPS and CD/radio units without curing problem. Remember both are affected. In how many different places in the car are the relevant electronics positioned?

Sounds like a good direction in which to guide the garage. I'll show it to them.

    Many thanks, David Jacobs

Hi,

Its due to misinstalled radio or just a loose connection.

There's supposed to be a wire to a constant live 12V source to hold the radio memory. This wire is directly connected to the cars battery

If that wire is disconnected, then every time the radio power via the ignition switch AUX systems circuit is cut off, the memory will clear.
So in your case, there must me a loose connectionin the wire, Please try to check the connection of the wire, and if any loose conenction found, try to correct it.

Some people when wiring a new stereo just connect the main radio power and the radio memory power leads together to the car's aux power system. It doeesn't damage anything, but its annoying resetting everytime by itself

A car radio should have two power inputs one goes to the battery and is on all the time - this saves the settings, the other to the ignition switch, check the instructions and try to correct it.

Eventhough the car is stationary or moving,Small miscontact may lead to reset...Have you tried checking the 12V wire, as i told befor..Try reconnecting removing. If it still fails, Check your car connection from the battery..

Eventhough you change or swap the unit, this issue deals with the wires rather than the unit..

My headlights keep flashing on and off at irregular intervals, whether stationary or driving...

Hi, I recommend you swap out the headlight relay. It's probably in the relay box under the hood.
Thanks for using FixYa.

HONDA INTERNAVI CAR NAVIGATION SYSTEM
I am in srilankan. I have bought a 2010 Honda Cr z imported from Japan. The car has an imporessive Honda Internavi Car Navigation System which intergrates Japanese GPS, mobile phone, reversing camera, audio, TV, DVD, CD etc on a touch screen and steering wheel control BUT all graphics and buttons are in Japanese script. Unfortunately the car didn't come with any instruction manuals. I want to know anything anyone else might know about the entire system, in English language please.

The audio system seems to rip CDS to a HDD.
The radio still receives a Japanese station
The TV picks up some local channels but only audio
The GPS still reads Japanese cities but is active, as if we are driving in Japan!

Plesae contact me if you might be able to help with providing English language instructions manuals, or information about how software might be updated to srilanka GPS and English instructions.

Cheers experts!

My Nissan Altima 2010 Basic model - is not

get an aftermarket deck. If you don't have the bose system, the OEM non bose does NOT play mp3 cds. It only plays audio cds or burned audio cds. It does have the aux jack if you hook up an mp3 player or your iphone/android phone to play Pandora using a headphone cable.

TO reset service interval-BMW320d

1. With the key out of the ignition... press and hold the left odometer button.

2. Turn the key to position 1... Meaning radio turns on, but instrument cluster warning lights stay off.

3. Keep holding the button for a few seconds (5-10) untill the display changes and says any of these words... OIL SERVICE or INSPECTION with RESET or RE.

4. Release the button but then again press it and hold (about 5-10 seconds) untill RESET or RE flashes.

5. While the display flashes press the button one more time briefly, and if done correctly the words "end SIA" will show up in a few seconds.
