Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' (Service Engine Soon) light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on.
You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE the problem and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

Air flow meter cable problem

Airflow meter or MAF sensor is a must for determining how much fuel injected into the engine to work properly. If you had already replaced the MAF sensor and the problem still presist,I am affraid the problem is not the sensor itself. Check the cable from ECU to MAF sensor for any broken or short circuit.Unplug the connector to the ECU and sensor, spray it with contact cleaner aerosol plug them back while it is still wet. Make sure there is no air leak betwen Sensor and engine due to crack or loose clamp. Replace your air filter. Start your engine. You can also trace possibly problems by OBD diagnostic tool. Good luck.

Have a opel astra H 1.8 sport 2004 model which is jerking and it starts emmediately from when you start the car and continues while driving the car, continues to jerk as if it is being starved of fuel

you may need to change your fuel filter. its easily accessible under the hood. it is usually wrapped in a medal protective cover. but its easy to pop off.

Car jerks when slowing down or stopped, CEL on

You said it all. When a car jerks it means it is not firing as expected which could be due to fuel pressure not adequate, air intake not enough or too much, sparks not been produce at the right time or engine management problems (sensors etc). from what you said i would start with locating the source of the oil consumption. If there is visible oil around the engine, this might not be cause of the jerking. If the oil leaks is not visible it could be due to cylinder\piston wear. Dirty air filter, spark plugs, plugged fuel filter and bad spark plug cable could also cause jerking so you might want to consider giving your car a tune up also

Jumping or jerking when i accelerate

I had a turbo renault , I cranked the wastegate down to increase boost and had same problem.
There was a sensor that cut the ignition if the turbo was over pressuring. Was a pretty violent jerking, felt like it was tearing the engine mounts out.
