Is there a knock in the engine? If the motor rattles, the knock sensor will think its pinging and retard the timing to compensate. This will set the code.
SOUND LIKE PROBLEM IS EGR VALVE FAILURE.CHECK TO SEE IF EGR VALVE IS GETTING VACUUM. IF ALL IS GOOD EGR VALVE INTAKE OR EXHAUST MANIFOLD PASSAGES ARE RESTRICTED OR THE EGR VALVE IS DEFECTIVE.
if it is for the EGR valve again, replace the valve and the DPFE sensor. Not sure what an EGR regulator is. Could be a bad hose going to the DPFE, or a clogged tube or EGR port also.
the code you have may not be due to insufficient lift, more likely you have either high or low voltage running through egr. replace the valve and your issues should go away.
I would have the front brakes checked and from what you are telling me you may have a warped rotor I do not know how many miles are on the car some cars have a reset after the oil change has been done to turn off the check engine light but if it keeps coming on take it to autozone and they will put it on a tester for free and then you will know what needs to be done
