How to fix this

That seems like a lot of money to fix a simple wiring problem. On the other hand, there are many processors (small computers) on many vehicles that can be quite expensive to replace.
If you don't feel that you can trust your mechanic, find another one. Explain what the truck is doing and ask for a quote in advance. They may not be able to tell you the exact price, but they should be able to say 'if we replace the wiring harness, it will be about X dollars, but if it's just this wire and plugs, it will be about Y dollars.'
Any good shop will be able to give you an idea what the cost will be, and they will be happy to call you, tell you what they found, and have you approve further work, if it will cost a lot.

What other vehicle parts are interchangeable

Your telling us,you have a vehicle that is less
than 12 years old & you are installing used worn
out parts on it.

That is a lot of work to install junk, on a critical part on
any vehicle,as well as unsafe, in my opinion

Being a salvage yard scavenger, you should know they
have a national register, to look that up for you

Strange raddling noise from front passenger side

if the noise only happens when the vehicle is in motion...check the front suspension. place the jack under lower control arm ,then get a bar and lift up on the tire..ball joint issues are well known in blazers and cause this condition. if it does the rattle noise when its idling and to op temp--could be the cat converter causing the noise on pass side directly under passenger seat. when cold, smack the cat with rubber mallet and if any rattle is present, cat should be replaced so it dont cause further damage .hope that was helpful !!

Purge solenoid location

which vehicle are you actually looking for the purge solenoid on? you have 2 vehicles listed in your question. i'll answer both, lol

the locations are described as if you are looking at the engine from the front of the car with hood open.

on the blazer:

it is located on the left side of the intake manifold just under and behind the throttlebody. it is a canister looking device.

on the silverado:

it is located on the intake manifold on the left side in about the same spot as the blazer. providing the silverado has the 5.3 or 5.7 liter engine. if it also has the 4.3 then obviously it will be the same.

hope this helps!

1995 S10 BLAZER 4X4 AUTOMATIC Transmission Burbs

It's possible that your transmission and filter has built-up a lot of gunk and deposits and is working overtime to get fluid to circulate through the transmission. The only other thing that can normally be checked without taking the vehicle to a transmission expert is the fluid level. However, I can tell you that I own a 2002 Blazer with a 4.3 L Vortec, and Blazers have always been notorious for having the transmissions go out on them if they are not checked and flushed on a routine basis (I suggest checking and/or flushing every 10-15K miles.). Hopefully this will help to shed some light on your problem. Have a great day!
