Jaguar X-type Brake Lights Stay on when driving

I have a 2003 X-type. I fixed the problem, but no one told me it was going to be a type fit for somone over 300 pounds. :)

Solution from another post: The brake light switch has either moved out of the bracket just above the brake light pedal or the brake light switch itself is faulty.
look just above the brake pedal, there should be a switch on a metal bracket so that when you press the brake pedal the spring plunger piece of the switch moves out and the lights come on. make sure the plunger goes in when the brake pedal goes back to normal position.if the lights stay on when the plunger is pushed in the switch is faulty and needs changing, quite common. hope this helps

SOURCE: oil light stay on jaguar 2003 s type

That would indicate either a faulty oil pressure sensor or that the oil pressure is low. This would be caused by a faulty oil pump, partially blocked oil lines or lack of oil. Check and re-check oil levels whilst the vehicle is on a flat piece of road. Check you have the right oil dipstick for the car (it may have been replaced with a longer oil dipstick which would give you a false reading) or even that the engine may have been changed at some time! make sure you have used oil of the right viscosity (check the owners manual). If that doesn't fix it then give the engine a good flush out with flushing oil to clean out the oil feed system. refill with fresh oil. If that doesn't sort it, change the oil pressure sensor. (on the engine block). Get the engine diagnostics readout done to see if there are any error codes stored. If you still have problems then it may be the oil pump which will cost a lot of money to change!

which brake warning light is on? the xtype does not have pad wear sensors fitted. so i guess you mean the abs light or the handbrake light.more than likely its the abs light and the common problem is the reluctor rings on one or the other of the rear outer constant velocity joints corroded/ fell off get the fault codes out of the abs module to help.

My son has a 2005 Jaguar X Type...the brake and abs lights stay on plus the abs pump doesn't shut off when the car is off?

My best guess is a Speed / ABS sensor, it must keep sending a signal to the pump to kick in. If thats not it, i would take a shot in the dark and say ABS pump is getting stuck.. (The second is a GUESS, dont take my word for it please)
Jaguar / Ford can diagnose it, and tell you "Left rear sensor" or something.. Then just go and do the work yourself (If you have the "Know how" )

2003 ford focus replaced brake switch lights will work in park but when i engage revs neut drive brake lights stay ?????

I have the same problem with my 03 Focus hatchback! Someone stoppedme yesterday to tell me that they looked like they were always on when i was driving but when i was in "Park" they worked... This particular driver was also driving a focus hatchback and asked me if my Cruise Control was working.. It actually was not and he told me the same thing happened with his focus. He said it was a wire attached to the back brake lights that had broken. I have not yet gotten it fixed. has anyone else had this problem?

Brake lights stay on

I believe this is most likely a faulty or stuck brake light switch. The lights are actuated when depressing the brake pedal thus closing the circuit in the switch usually attached to the upper end of the pedal near the hinge.

My brake lights are no longer working on my 2003 Jaguar X type. What fuse number would be associtated with them?

most of the time if the brake lights don't work,
it's will be the switch on the brake pedal. You will find it under the dash where the brake pedal is. all it is a small button will two wire coming from it.
