What would cause a batt drain on a 1998 vw jetta after sitting over night

Alot of things. Could be a short or a bad diode in the alternator. Or even as simple as a bad relay.

1994 E150 van ford no alt power have changed the alt. charged the batt

There is a fuse or fuseable link between the alt and battery, and the alt gets a signal from the key to activate the voltage regulator.
I would check for batt voltage at the alternator and you may need a wiring diagram to check for key voltage.

ABS light comes on, traction light, and airbag light. The radio turns off, and everything dims. Then the car dies & won't restart. Its not Alt or Batt.

There should be a fuse between your battery and alt. If the fuse is blown, the current isnt getting back to the batt.

Something like this also happened to my brother in his Jetta, Im not saying its the same thing but his timing belt gave out.

My batt light keeps flashing on my 2003 tdi what does this mean i got a new alt and batt less than two years ago what would cause this

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action please remove the positive battery connector, let it sit for 5mins. then reconnect it again. Please make sure that the connectors are tight enough. This will reset the system and can resolve the problem.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

How long since the timing belt was changed? If the timing belt goes it will not have spark.

I have 2 present problems on my 2002 vw jetta tdi: (1) i ordered a pair (left andright) headlamp bezel and started to install it and I found that it gets quite complicated. a body shop to do it told me it...

how old is ur batt what is ur climate cold or hot might b ur starter is gettin weak but id check ur battery if its 3 years or mor change it esspecily if its ever gone dead b4,if its ever been dead for a peroid then what happens inside the batt is the electrolite(juice) will revert back into acid and eat the leat plates inside the battery less lead=less capasity always keep the battery well maintained and if u ever go deat then get a jump start simply driving for 1 or 2 hours aint enough,ur bat might only 25-50% charge which means at least 50%of the liquid is still acid and will continuing eating the lead plates, as soon as possible get home and overnight charge at atleast 10 amps on a batt charger i mean look 50 bucks for a charger might save u 75 150 buck over 5 years, also make sure the batt terminals are clean get some sand paper take them off and clean them, better then just that remove the batt from the car and clean it with soap bakingsoda and hot water all over rince well, let dry, dont wory it only 12 volts water is not dangrous, and for good messure charge it while its out of the car OVERNIGHT IF POSSIBLE!! when u put it back in tighten well and if u want put some wheel bearing greese on the posts-- i live in canada we got heavy winters with salt on out roads helps keep corosion down i know its a bit messy if u gots to work around it but ull nvr hav a prob as for the lights join a online volkswagon fourm or club its usaly free and people there will help u HAVE A GOOD ONE HOPE THIS HELPS
