When filling the gas tank gas shoots back out at me

Sounds like you have a venting problem with the breather hose.
There should be a hose coming off the neck of the gas filler pipe somewhere that relieves pressure out of the tank when you fill and when your pump sucks fuel it lets air in to balance the pressure. I would suggest this breather pipe is either bent or plugged somehow.

take a tape measure and measure th gas tank neck its better 2' hose and cut the excess after you hook it up to the tank and all that holds the hose are hose clamps

What is the best way to replace the fuel intake hose to the fuel tank on a 1989 ford ranger truck?im told by the state of calif. smog station that it releases fumes and will not pass the smog test.

If you are talking about the fuel filler neck or fuel filler hose, the easiest way is to remove the bed by removing the six bolts that attach it to the chassis. also disconnect the light harnesses and lift up your bed. don't forget to first release the fuel filler neck by removing three small screws at the gas filler port. then remove the hose from the tank. it is attached to the tank by a clamp. I just did two of them and it is fairly simple. It should take you about three hours if you have all the tools.

Have a '91 Ranger, had a mech replace oem fuel filler hose to enable sucessful evap test results BUT now fuel only ''trickles'' from gas pump nozzle and clicks OFF constantly... ''Q'' > WAS THE TANK RE...

the filler hose has a vent pipe or hose inside of it or alongside of it. If the vent hose is blocked, you can't get the air out of the tank while it is filling so you end up with "Spitback" or pump kick off.

The aftermarket unit may not have a vent hose. Did the original pipe have an internal vent hose or external?

was the CEL on and fuel cap light on before you had the fuel pump replaced? if it was after the repairs were performed, double check all evaporative emissions lines, hose, and connection on and around the fuel tank. also make the the fuel filler neck is properly seated and clamped to fuel tank. if all good, check the plastic fuel filler top (just behind fuel door, where you put fueling nozzle) make sure it is not chipped or cracked anywhere. especially where the rubber seal from the cap rides.

Failed evap test 1993 ranger

The most common fail is the large fuel filler hose running from the fuel filler neck to the tank. Apparently the lower molded bend cracks over time and must be replaced. Easy fix. Kinda. Unfortunately the part is something like $300 + - here in Cali at the ford dealer.

CANT FILL GAS TANK FUEL BACKING UP

You will need to replace the filler neck, the vent hose inside the filler neck gets kinked and causes this problem. The air can not vent back out of the fuel tank as you fill it.
