The clutch needs to be fully bleed. --------- to bleed the clutch follow this instructions:-- assuming all is well with the installation and individual components, bleed the system with the clutch return spring disconnected (using the good old-fashioned foot and hose-in-a-bottle method). then reattach and check it. ---------- The clutch slave cylinder is mounted on the right side of the bellhousing. Unfortunately, it's a bear to get to for bleeding. The bleed nipple is on top--of course--to bleed trapped air but that makes it all but inaccessible (it's possible if you have small hands and flexible wrists). It's actually easier to unbolt the slave cylinder from the bellhousing, but still a bit of work to re-mount it. You'll want a 1/2" or 9/16" ratcheting end wrench for the bolts (don't recall for sure which it is--think they're 3/8" fine bolts which would need 9/16" endwrench). IIRC, you can just pull the pushrod out of the cylinder and reinsert. Or, you can pull the transmission cover for easy access to the nipple. ------------- another method is to drop the slave cylinder off the tranny. open the bleed nipple then press the cylinder all the way in.Force t back out by pushing on the clutch lever with your hand..Repeat this cycle a couple of times to insure the air is removed. Oh Use a jar with a hose to watch for the air bubbles to stop. Put it back together so it will activate the clutch and you are good to go. ------------ if not able to do a local car garage mechanic is advisable.the clutch just needs to be properly bleeded to make the car run properly without any noise. ---------------- this will help.please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.thanks.

No Reverse and the fluid is dirty and smells funny.

Sounds like you blew out your reverse belt/gear in the transmission. Probably going to need a transmission rebuild/replacement.

My sons 2001 Eclipse spyder was driving fine, then one day last week he said his clutch was "slipping". I drove it and it would shift fine but once in gear it would act like it was in nuetral...

From what you're describing - you're definitely going to replace the clutch disc. If it was slipping as bad as you're indicating then additional damage could have been done to the flywheel, slave cylinder or master cylinder. The extent of the damage (present or not) won't be visible until the transmission is removed to examine the clutch disk/pressure plate, etc.

Good Luck.
