Question about 1989 Audi 100

1 Answer

While driving my battery dropped down to about 10 volts. Then the temperature light came on. Then the gas gauge dropped from half tank to quarter tank within a couple minutes. Then when i turned a corner it died on me. Then it wouldn't start. It would try to turn over but it wouldn't. So I went to go get gas because by the time it died it was on empty. I put in less than two gallons and it started up fine and then it went up to half full. What could be causing all of this?

Almost sounds like it is leaking fuel. Do you smell gas at anytime? Also do you know if the fuel gauge is reading correctly?

Gas Gauge fluctuates, Overheating even with enough antifreeze & Heater blowing freezing cold air.

GAS GAGE IS EITHER A BAD SENDING UNIT OR "SLOSH MODULE" IF A FORD. HEAT ISSUE IS A VACUUM LOCK IN THE COOLING SYSTEM AND NOT ALLOWING THE AIR TO ESCAPE AND NO WATER TO CIRCULATE.CHECK FOR LEAKS ,THE THERMOSTAT,AND WATER PUMP FOR PROPER CIRCULATION

Well, yes the tank is under pressure at times, but the gauge problem is probably the sending unit.
Every few minutes the computer tries to vent the tank to the vapor canister and the engine which would be affected by the leaking gasket.
You will probably need to replace the sending unit and then you can fix the seal too. Once the seal is disturbed it usually does not fit the hole.

1999 PLY GRND VOYAGER GAS GAUGE WOULD NOT READ GAS AFTER HALF TANK, JUST REPLACE THE WHOLE FUEL PUMP AND STILL NOT FIX

You forgot to mention the FLOATER in your tank,To do this, you have to drop the tank but be extra careful you're working with gasoline.De-pressurised it first before you start. Oh yes, disconnect battery.!!

2000 Ford Taurus. Would fill up with gas when close to empty or light come on. Then a couple weeks ago,gas gauge was on 1/4 tank then went a little lower and engine started bucking. Then light came on. ...

change the fuel filter for one, this is telling you that your pick up in the tank is getting clogged, I would drop my tank, and drain it, flush it, and check the pump at that time

Gas gauge flys from quarter tank to way past full mark and sticks

This isn't a definite fix, but it may be that the gasoline in your tank is 'sloshing' forwards and backwards and your sensour is getting readings when the gasoline is in different positions in your tank. The connection is actually above your gasoline tank and you'll have to take off the tank harnesses and drop the tank if you want to check to see if the connection became slightly loose, otherwise you can just fill your gas tank and reset your temporary milage gage (that's the little black button near your RPM meter) and remember how many miles you get per tank.
