Question about 2004 Honda Pilot
Your problem is the breather on the tank
Its a pipe fitted to the tank that lets the air out when you put fuel in. and it sounds like its blocked up or has a kink in it
Find it ,clean it, and your ok to fill up.

Has your 2004 Honda Pilot gas filling issue been resolved? Can you tell me what was done to fix the problem?
I also own a 2004 Pilot and am having the EXACT same issue. My dealer replaced the Vent Shut Valve, which did not fix the issue, and now Honda is recommending that my dealer replace the entire tank.
Did you call American Honda to tell them about the problem? They have yet to issue any service bulletin or recall for the issue because they are not hearing about it. Please take a minute to call them at (800) 999-1009 to notify them of the problem in hopes they will eventually issue a recall.
