Hi, i would have the starter motor checked out the click usually comes from the starter solenoid. It could also be a bad main wire connection at the starter from the battery.
try tapping on the starter housing while somebody is in the car. have them try to start the car while tapping on it if it starts replace the starter. who may have a dead spot in the whindings. good luck steve
Used parts such as starters and altinators don't last. It might **** but it sounds like you need to buy a new starter, altinator, and battery. Or just start with buying one at a time.
You are probably experiencing a failing starter relay. The contacts begin to corrode from the current drawn when starting the car. This causes poor conduction and the clicking you hear. Eventually, it will stop working altogether. The starter relay was added as a recall item to prevent the same thing from happening to the ignition switch (which it did in vehicles before the recall). The starer relay can be found in the very fromt of the engine compartment, just to the left of the battery, mounted on the back side of the radiator crossmember.
se connection directly to starter if rusty doubel d it , replace nit "carefully acter disconnectiong batt, make sure radios not "coded " if it is see if u have code or use jumper wire to keep memory on batt
Hello LostLynne. The most common issue is a bad contact in the starter solenoid. This solenoid is part of the starter assembly and makes the high amperage battery to starter connection When you hear the click the solenoid is activating but not completing the battery to starter contact. If this is an original starter or been on for a long time I would suggest changing the starter assembly. Also in your under hood fuse/relay panel there is a smaller relay that activates the starter solenoid that should be checked before replacing the starter. Although less common for that to happen it does occasionally cause a problem. Easy to replace too. If you have further questions please ask me.
The Batt does not have a full charge or it is the wrong cranking AMP's for the car... find out if it is the right Batt and also that it is put on a "slow charge" over night or at least 6 hr's
