The Dealer. Did you hear there avail somewhere else? Now --How do you know it is the cluster??? Sorry. It is a 93 . I hate the thought of you at the salvage yard

Normally you would just make a note of the mileage difference on the title when you sell the truck. And keep the old cluster.

My 97 mitsuibishi galant's speedometer works but not but odometer. it seems as if it is stuck but it wont move at all. please help
Probably need to replace the dash cluster that contains the odometer mechanism. The speed, or mph is controlled by a cable from transmission to the dash cluster. The odometer or miles put on the car runs off the cable through a series of small gears behind the cluster. There maybe a broken plastic gear or something has falling off the car behind the cluster (like a screw or nut) and has caused a blockage on the small gears.

Odometer doesn`t work
Thanks. The odometer is driven by plastic gears inside the instrument cluster. Since the speedo works we know the info is getting to the cluster so the plastic gears are obviously stripped or broken. This is pretty common on these vehicles.

You'll need to replace the cluster or have it repaired.

Instrument panel in 2001 Ford F150 went out. How

This is if the cluster lighting still works, but the display is blank. Don't know if you mean the gauges in the cluster do not work.

Speedometer not working 2003 Tahoe. What are possible fixes and costs?
Is the ODOMETER working? Service eng soon light on? Could be a speed sensor OR a Instrument Cluster problem. If the Odometer works, its an Inst cluster and it wil need to be replaced. Any good Repair shop should be able to get a new one or DORMAN PRODUCTS makes replacement clusters for most GM trucks.

Odometer stopped working
IF YOUR SPEEDO IS WORKING THEN YOUR VSS IS OKAY, BAD VSS WILL STOP SPEEDO AND USALLY CAUSE HARD SHIFTING. NORMALLY ODO IS CONTROLLED BY SERVO MOTOR WHICH MAY HAVE WENT OUT. CHECK EBAY FOR REPAIR SERVICES OR SIMPLY GET A SALVAGE CLUSTER AND HAVE MILEAGE RESET

Odometer quit working but speedodometer works all gagues work need to know what to check
The odometer is driven by a small electic motor. It receives the same signal the speedometer receives. If the odometer motor is no longer functioning, I'm affraid the entire instrument panel cluster will have to be replaced.

Section 13-01: Instrument Cluster—Conventional 1995 Thunderbird, Cougar Workshop Manual REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Instrument Cluster Removal and Installation
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301) .
  1. Remove screws holding instrument panel reinforcement (017A28) .
  1. Remove screws holding instrument panel lower shield (045G02) .
  1. Remove fasteners holding steering wheel column as outlined in Section 11-04 . Gently lower steering column.
  1. Remove fasteners holding the instrument panel finish panel (044D70) and gently pry off.



  1. Remove four instrument cluster retaining screws. (Do not remove screws from the instrument cluster main lens (10887) and instrument cluster mask (10890) ).
  1. Slide the instrument cluster (10849) to the right of the instrument panel opening and unhook the instrument panel harness from the back of the instrument cluster .
  1. Remove the instrument cluster from the instrument panel (04320) .

Speedometer/Odometer Federal law requires that the odometer in any replacement speedometer (17255) must register the same mileage as that registered in the removed speedometer . Since the speedometer mileage cannot be reset on this unit, affix odometer sticker to driver's door pillar and record original vehicle mileage. Removal
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301) .
  1. Remove the instrument cluster (10849) as outlined.
  1. Remove seven screws retaining the instrument cluster mask (10890) and instrument cluster main lens (10887) .
  1. Remove speedometer assembly.
Installation
  1. Position the speedometer assembly to the instrument cluster back plate (10848) and install.
  1. Position the instrument cluster mask and instrument cluster main lens to the instrument cluster back plate and install the seven retaining screws.
  1. Install the instrument cluster as outlined.
  1. Connect battery ground cable and check the operation of the speedometer .

Odometer only works at night
THE PROBLEM IS A BAD OR SHORTED PINS OR CHIP, SO YOUR BEST BET IS THAT, TO REPLACE THE CLUSTER, SORRY.
ALL NEW CLUSTERS ARE ELECTRICAL NOW.
WHAT YOU CAN TRY IS TAKE THE CLUSTER OUT AND LOOK FOR ANY BLOWN RESISTOR OR METAL CARRIER.
IF IT WORKS AT NIGHT THE LIGHT SWITCH IS SENDING THE POWER TO THE UNIT. AT DAY TIME ANOTHER SOURCE IS SENDING POWER TO IT. SO THAT CHANNEL MAY BE BLOWN.
