No hondas don't have trans filter that's why you must use Honda fluid and it costs 9 dollars per quart

Where is the filter for the transmission for an 88 accord .. please show me pics if anyone has any

As far as I can discover, the transmission filter is not meant to be routinely serviceable. This is typical, and common with other makers, eg, Subaru, Toyota.

How much time does it take to change the transmission in a 92 Honda accord

In a service dealers garage, maybe half a day.
In my back yard in the mud, with only a crescent wrench, it would seem like forever.
If you're planning on getting his done and you don't have a contact already, talk with a couple of shops and go with the 3 P approach.
Product - they all will be doing the same job
Price - they are all entitled to a fair fee for their work.
Personality - Judgement call, Is their shop clean & staff happy? How do they talk to you? Do they offer a warranty? Have they been around a long time? Do they offer references?

Transmission slipping problems

I hope you are aware that 1998-2002 Accord transmissions were troublesome, rarely lasted more than 70k miles, and the object of a recall. Should you need to rebuild the transmission, Honda has "Remedy" kit that solves recurring problems. I have a 1998, and this happened to me. If you are lucky, maybe just the torque converter failed, or is worn out, and replacement costs much less than transmission rebuild. Furthermore, these transmissions will positively not work with standard auto transmission fluid. You HAVE to use Honda ATF. Thanks for coming to Fixya.

I have a 91 honda accord ex when cold it works fine its only when it warms up it feels like the tranny is slipping and needs high rpms to get it to go in any forward gears reverse works fine all the time...

Try haveing the transmission filter and fluid replaced. most shops do not want to do this. I may solve your problem. If you take it to a shop make sure you can watch this being shops will not change the filter others add water to make the trans worse. If their on the up and up it may solve your problem

My honda is allmost 60k miles what kind of service i need

I believe that 60K service will normally include:

1. Engine oil and filter
2. Transmission oil and maybe filter
3. Valve train adjustment
4. New belts for alternator, power steering, air conditioning

I would have the brake fluid changed every two years to remove moisture and prevent rust. I also change the power steering fluid.

Be sure that genuine Honda transmission fluid is used or else the shifting may become wierd. Don't let the shop use ordinary Dexron with an additive like Lubeguard because it won't be the same.

Some shops may also recommend a new timing belt at 60K, although Hondas now require the change only at 90K. If the water pump is driven by this belt, get it replaced as well because when a pump siezes it will snap the belt.

Have you ever had the transmission serviced? Change fluid and filter? Have you checked level? With engine on tranny in park check transmission dipstick. There are normally two readings on stick, cold and warm/hot. If the answer is yes to all above then you need transmission work.

What would cause a 1988 honda accord lxi to not shift all the time?

Transmission needs to be tuned up or the fluid and filter changed out. You can do this at any mechanic or muffler shop for $59 and up. But the tuneup on the transmission can cost you the same price as a new one which is $3500 bucks. I would just go have the transmission flushed and filter changed and then see what happens you should also check your transmission fluid check the dipstick usually this one is close to the firewall and this is where you would fill it back up as well.

Good Luck!

I own a honda city 2004 with automatic

The fluid in the transmission has to be changed along with the filter just like youe engine oil, only not as frequently. Have your transmission fluid and filter serviced and see if this helps. A qualified technician can tell from the old fluid if there is internal transmission damage.

Want to change the transmission filter on 91 honda accord lx but isnt sure where the trans pan is

The transmission drain plug is located on the passenger side of the case. It has a square fitting, use a 3/8" drive ratchet and extension to remove it.On the 1994-1997 Accords, there is no way to drain the torque converter, or change the filter, without transmission removal, so as a result, you are only changing about half the fluid. Refill it with 2.5 quarts of Dexron or Honda fluid.
