First of all you want to turn ALL the pulleys and make sure that they turn freely and quietly. If any are noisy or bound up you'll need to address this before continuing. Locate the tensioner pulley. This pulley is mounted on a swingarm and can be forced back to allow the belt replacement. Look for a black label on the radiator support(top), it will have a white serpentine belt routing diagram. Place the new serpentine belt around the fan blades to get started. Now you want to follow the diagram and of utmost importance, BE PATIENT!!! I'v done thousands of these and I still get frustrated. THe new belt is very stiff and keeps trying to jump off from where you just placed it..AARRGGHHH!!!! Remember patientience, and you'll do fine. Thank you, Dana P.S. do not put your face near the engine compartment when first starting after the belt exchange often time small spurs of rubber of (hairs) may fly off due to manufacturing.

If you mean serpintime belt they really are'nt that bad there should br a diagram under the hood somewhere for the routing of the belt or it could be a sticker on the power steering pump each model is different

What is the belt on the other side of the motor called? it started squealing today and I dont know what to do?

Not sure what belt your talking about, but it's either loose/needs tensioning or gone hard and needs replacing, or you have a sized/tight bearing on a component, such as A/C compressor, water pump ect.

The belt might have an automatic tensioner/idler if it's multi rib/flat belt, check condition of bearing and tensioner function..

Need to change the drive belt on my toyota corolle 2005 model how do i go about it

release tension on belt by:

-putting a socket/breaker bar or ratched on the tensioner pulley bolt and use it to relieve tension on the belt

-slide belt off tensioner pulley. replace with new belt in same pattern across all pulleys and again relieve tension on the tensioner puller to slide the new belt back on.

--you may need to remove the bolt on the tensioner closest to the pulley.

---if you don't know what the tensioner looks like look up the part on autozone's website for a picture you can match on your car

Best regards.

Dont know which bolt loosens the belt for alternator changeing. please help 1998 ford expedition. 4.6 liter.

A 3/8" ratchet is needed to attached to the belt tensioner which will allow you to releive the tension to remove and to reinstall the belt. It will fit right inside the square 3/8" square hole on the tensioner

How to change altenator on 2000 inteped,i have the bolts off dont know how to loose belts to remove.thanks

there is a sprung idler wheel that keeps the tension on the belt, if you look at it you will see a hexagon or square that you fit a wrench on and turn against the spring to loosen the belt (it saves a lot of time and stress if you get someone to hold the tension while you change the alternator as the serpentine belts can be trying to re-thread, note the belt run or take a photo to make is easy if you do remove it)

I don't need the belt. What I want to know is how to change the belt after the old one is off. Can't move alternator to slide belt over last pulley. what's next?

You need to loosen the belt tensioner bolt to give you some slack to make the last pulley. Please take a look here Click Me for a photo of the belt tensioner. I hope this helped and please dont forget to rate my answer and have a great weekend!
