Question about 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Loud whining noise

My trailblazer is making the same noise. it is driving me nuts. I changed the Idler Pulley and the altenator. I used the screwdriver test on the altenator and it sounded like it was making the noise, so I put a new one in, that wasnt the problem! Any suggestions?

Hello! I have an 06 Trailblazer and its making a loud whinning noise. It gets louder when i press the gas pedal. We have replaced the idler pulley along with the belts. We have also taken the alternator...

Have you tried running the engine for a minute with the belt removed? If the noise is still present when you do this, then it is not related to the belt or any of the pullies. I have seen "whining" noises coming from the air induction system - namely, vibrations set up by the idle air control and reverberating in the intake. This will not go away with the belt removed.

If the noise does go away with the belt removed, then the problem HAS to be one of the pullies or components that are driven by the belt. Power steering pump a little low on fluid maybe? Or possibly a rough bearing in an idler pulley? Spin each pulley by hand and see if it makes any noise. You should not be able to "hear" them spin. If you get any kind of rattle or roughness when spinning the pulley by hand, then this is most likely your problem-child.

I hear a whining noise when I accelerate what do you think this is? It is not very loud but I know my car and this is new

Hello: One of the most common sources for a whining noise on the truck is the idler pulley on the serpentine belt system. A stethoscope or long screwdriver can be use to diagnosis this problem.

2002 chevrolet pick up v6 excessive noise from belts replaced idler and tensioner ,no help power steering works fine ,altenator charging, a/c ok water pump ok rotated altenator, by hand when changing...

I would suspect the altenator, A/C pulley, or the belt. when you checked the altenator and a/c they have to turn smoothly with no play or roughness. If these checked out fine then I would check the belt, they do stretch.

2005 Chevy trailblazer ext. engine whines constantly. Truck seems to operate fine, but the constant whining is annoying. What is it? Idler pulley was replaced a few years ago.

Sometimes when your altenator bearings are going bad they will make a whining noise, could also be power steering pump, try to see if you can isolate the noise to one or the other, is it louder on one side of the engine or the other side. That would help to narrow it down.

check the idler/tensioner pully's and the alternator pully, there is a common problem with one of these 3 going bad, usually an idler pully the best way to check is to get a mechanics stethescope and touch the end to the bolt on the idler pully's you will notice a very distinct sound difference from a smooth pully and one with bad bearings. gm tech here, seen many of these

Getting a high pitched whining sound that increases and decreases with accelleration and decelleration

it is your idler pulley. get it from dealer comes with bracket, just use pulley off bracket. take your belt off and your idler pulley is lower right hand side(facing your engine). 15mm bolt, replace pulley and reinstall your belt. it;s a common problem on trailblazers

Engine whinning

I had the same problem on my 2005 Envoy. Turned out to be the idler pulley bearing. It is just a pulley the belt rides on. The bearing in the pulley was what was making the high pitched whine. I replaced the bearing, and the noise went away.
