Golg mk 3 1.4petrol missfires have changed leads and plugs noticed brake servo pipe was split have cut it off and put back on again seems little better

Heated the servo pipe and it fitted onto the conecter

If the brakes feel " Tight" then there is a fault with the brake servo/booster. Get a tech to check the hose and connections of the servo because any split in the servo/booster hose will affect the intake manifold vacuum and cause poor running. Fix the servo line and it will probably fix the main problem as well. May only be a clip want tightening. Get a knowledgeable person to help if you are not sure yourself.

diaphragm in servo split ,is my first choice of answer ,block off servo pipe from manifold with a cork of something and try applying the brakes then ,if ok then you have the problem ,stop looking for fancy excuses and faults that do not exist .If in doubt ask local recomended mechanic .

2007 gmc canyon sputters like it is going to cut off when applying brakes sometimes hard to start. just changed plugs and air filter . could it be brake booster or something else


if I say possible servo booster is faulty,surely you will feel it on the brake pedal ( stiff ),or the engine running would be erratic.the other alternative situation is the pipe( hose ) which is connected with inlet manifold and servo booster and inside has the check valve probably is faulty. Test : off engine,pump brake pedal several times till gets stiff. Keeping your foot on brake pedal start the engine and if your servo works fine then the pedal goes a bit down,if not will not move at all. If the engine is running erraticly then with engine off, remove the pipe connecting manifold and servo block the pipe you remove from servo side,block it and start the engine,If engine run fine,then you must confirm whether is the servo or the check valve hose. For the check valve hose how to check,just put in your mouth the servo side pipe and blow into,if the air goes in the engine means that the check valve is broken and you must renew the pipe with check valve,if on blowing into will not allow air to get through,means is ok and the servo is the fault. Not sure here to be totally honest and without a play myself it will be dificult to answer but i suspect the idle control motor ,this is a valve controlled by the computer thats on the inlet manifold and lets in more of less air depending on amount required by the engine ,it normally looks like a smallish round thing with a multiplug with 4 wires in it and this is controlling the idle ,now another thing in extreme circumstances it the diaghrapm in the brake servo is split and your losing vacumn through this causing the engine not to idle but if this is the case you should hear it but try closing the feed pipe if possible with a pair of mulgrips but if its a black telcalmit plastic pipe then pull the end out of the servo and put a cork in it or assistant to hold finder on the end whilst you start the engine.

if the brake pedal is very hard with little braking effect you have either a faulty servo or a leak in the vacume pipe to the servo ,,,, if its a diesel the vacume pump could be faulty also ,,,,, if pipework is ok carefully plug out the pipe from the servo there should be vacume in the pipe with the engine running,,, on a petrol this will effect the engine speed as you are introducing a air leak into the enginebut will do no harm ,,, if you have vacume in the pipe its the servo thats faulty if you have no vacume inspect the pipework back towards the engine to either find a leak or faulty vacume pump

hi.
it sounds like a prolem on the vacuum pipes going to the inlet manifold.
a split in one of these vacuum pipes would result in too much air going into the engine, resulting in the exact symptoms you are describing.

check each pipe for any signs of damage or collapsing or holes. make sure that they fit tightly at the ends and at any junction points.

also remove the pipe going into the brake servo unit and blow into it. you should feel some resistance, and when the pressure is released, you should feel the air blowing back a little.
if you can keep blowing into this pipe with no resistance the diaphragm in the servo unit has a hole in it which will also let air into the manifold.

1998 Lincoln Navigator, brake light on, filled fluid resevoir light went off, next day came back on. Brakes spongy. Replaced pads front and rear at 87,000 miles, currently at 111,000


Not completely sure here as i cannot see it but i would hazard a guess and say that the master cylinder needs changing ,but check the fluid level first and if low again then you have a fluid leak but where ?? could be a caliper seal or the master cylinder leaking out of the rear seal and its being sucked into the air intake via the servo vacumn pipe?? could even be a flexible pipe split or a damaged brake pipe ,Evan if pads on metal you should still have a hard pedal ,Have a good look around to see if its leaking first

To check the vacum pump.all you have to do is remove the pipe from the servo,and with the engine running that pipe should be sucking.place finger over the pipe and check.If its not sucking then check the pipe for cracks.If the pipe is ok then replace the pump

I replaced the fuel pump in my 99 ford taurus about 6 months ago and then put it into storage. I replaced the battery to and now the keeps dying when idleing???? Help!


not sure about this,but from what you describe i wouldnt be surprissed if you dont have a fault with fuel metering device and not sure what to call it because you have a different name to us in spain.Look on the side of the butterfly where you have throttle linkage and on the opposite side is little box type thing with a wiring plug ,Well this may need a clean on the carbon path inside or it may evan have a broken path,But first check all the little vacumn pipes for splitting on the ends and if your model has a rubber piece of pipe to the brake servo thenrenew this in case its porus and drawing in air .
