Leaking transmission fluid

TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKS,CAN BE FOUND AROUND PAN GASKET.CHECK PAN GASKET,IF IT LOOKS WET AND YOU SEE FLUID DRIPPING AROUND THE EDGE OF OIL PAN, REPLACE PAN GASKET, WHILE YOU REPLACING PAN GASKET REPLACE TRANSMISSION FILTER WHILE OIL PAN OFF.IF TRANSMISSION OIL PAN NOT LEAKING, CHECK TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINES GOING INTO RADIATOR YOU WILL LOOSE A LOT OF FLUID THERE ALSO TORQUE SHAFT SEAL WILL CAUSE HEAVY FLUID LEAK WHILE ENGINE RUNNING CHECK OIL COOLER LINES AND LOOK AT THE TORQUE AREA WHILE ENGINE RUNNING YOU WILL SEE FLUID POURING WHILE ENGINE RUNNING THE OIL PUMP PRESSURE WILL PUSH FLUID OUT AT THE LEAKING AREAS.

Im planning to buy a 1996 jetta GL but it has an oil leak. Would this be fixable, without costing me a bundle.

It's really going to depend on where the leak is coming from. Could be the oil pressure sending unit, which wouldn't cost too much. Also the valve cover or oil pan gasket, even the rear main seal, those 3 are a bit pricey. I would see if the seller would let you take the car to your local mechanic and have him determine exactly where the oil leaking is coming from, and get an estimate from him.

My oil pan is leaking around the corners. What do i do?

drain out hte old oil, Remove oil pan bolts, remove old oil pan gasket, install new gasket, install oil pan, tighten oil pan bolts to 17 ft. lbs. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN as this will distort the gasket and cause another leak.

1997 toyota avalon oil pan gasket leaking , seems

Are you sure its the oil pan most leaks come from the valve cover gaskets up above. check the corners of the valve covers. If the pan needs re-sealed you will have to remove the flex pipe.

Newer oil pan gaskets for Ford, not like original..leaking again

try warming up the engine a little then re-tightening the bolts,if that doesnt work, mark where its leaking and pull the pan back off and apply sealant to that area a little heavier than the rest of the gasket surface, dont use too much on a new gasket, just a really thin coat...USE "ULTRA BLUE" sealant,NOT blue or black RTV silicone, silicone wears out and it can leak after a while..Allow the ultra blue sealant to dry for about 30 minutes before re-assembling it,and clean off all oil from the gasket before applying the sealant, its ok to apply it to both sides of the gasket, and add a glob to all 4 corners where the gasket meets with rubber seals around the crankshaft, but put those globs on right before you put the pan back in place, the sealant has to be wet to squish in enough..i hope this helps

You didn't buy this from a dealer did you? Try (repairpal.com) for estimate for repairs that zero's in on your area rates via postal code for closer estimate. You just enter info on vehicle & pick repair to be done.

Oil pan replacement

biggest advice i can think of is to make sure ALL of the old gasket material is removed before installing new pan to keep it from leaking when you install new gasket a thin coat of Form-A-Gasket or similar type silicone on new gasket sure helps out hope this helps
