When the airbag light is on it means a fault has occurred in the system and the airbag diagnostic monitor has disabled the system, the most common problem that turns the light on is a break in the connection to the steering wheel mounted airbag, this is due to a rotating ribbon contact that breaks under the steering wheel that connects the airbag to the wiring harness and the diagnostic monitor, the part is called th clock spring contact, a coiled up ribbon electrical contact that turns with the wheel

Ineed to turn off service airbag light off my impala 06

You'll need to correct the issue with the airbag that is causing the light to be on. If you use a scanner to turn it off it's going to come right back on. Use a scanner to check for the problem that is causing it, most likely a sensor in the bumper, under the seat, or in the steering wheel.

My 2003 Impala's Airbag Light stays on when I drive the car. But, when the car warms up in tne sun and I restart it, the Airbag Light stays off while driving. The dealer says I need to replace the SDM...

Working on the SRS can be very hazardous. For this reason I suggest you have this done by a professional. I would for sure get a second opinion on this.

The airbag light came on and stayed on for no reason.

I have the same issue (which comes and goes often).
It is caused by a loose wire connection, used for the drivers side airbag located in the seat.. The connector for mine is located under the front drivers seat. There are a couple of connectors that are connected to a bar under the front of the seat. I don't recall which one is used for the Airbag sensor.
