Make sure u really need a new transmission. my D4 light kept flashing periodically and then would hesitate wen accelerating also it slipped wen exceeding over 40 mph. i took it to a transmission place and all he had to do was replace the solenoids. it also could be the computer or wires. either way it is MUCH cheaper than replacing a new tranny. make sure it is a trustworthy person, a crooked one will try to tell u to replace it even if u may not need to.

How do i know if i need transmission oil for my pajero 2001

Probably more than you want to know, but here is the workshop manual on the transmission. I had a friend with a Pajero, and it had some kind of jangling bell if he went over 68 mph. Drove us mad going to the airport on a 325 mile trip.

you must drop the pan under the transmission. then you can undo the filter assemble, and then put the pan back and top the fluid. if it has more than 100,000 miles then you should have a transmission fluid exchange done.

I am contemplating flushing and refilling the automatic transmission fluid and need to know the capacity. John

I would call the car dealer, he can tell you the amount and which transmission to use if you need to know. You might also ask him if there is a filter on the transmission, now would be a good time to change that. Most car manufactories recommend changing transmission fluid after a certain number of miles.
