You should have an inline filter between the tank and then engine. crawl underneath and follow the fuel line to the front of the car and you should see a filter somewhere on that line.

1990 integra starts for like 5 seconds then dies

IF you can keep it running with starting fluid my friend, but wont keep running otherwise, it's evident now that you have a fuel delivery problem. Like your out of gas in the tank. Well, you know there's gas in the tank, so apparently the fuel pump is malfunctioning and not pumping the gas from the tank. First check ALL fuses. Fuel pump fuse may not be marked as that and could be on the same fuse as the wipers or something else. That's why you check all fuses with a test light. It may not be blown, just not making good contact. Or it could be the ground connection on the tank is corroded and not making good enough contact.

Just purchased 1982 ford f150. it wont stay running. yesteday, drove it to town, going back it keep dying, would have to jump it off and it would go about 200 yards and die. had to have it towed home ...

It could be a number of causes, but I would suspect water in the tank from condensation from sitting. . I would definatly change the fuel filter . I would also check the distributor cap and button also. It will likely have carbon tracks on the electrodes. I would add a bottle of Dry Gas into the tank to rid the water. I have used a can of wd40 to spray near the vacuum line to see if the engine suddenly picks up speed. If it does, this is a vacuum leak.

YOU NEED FILL GAS TANK A HALF OF FULL OF GAS.IF GAS TANK GET TOO LOW OR EMPTY.I CAUSE FUEL PUMP OVERHEAT WHICH WILL DESTROY IT.GAS KEEP FUEL PUMP COOL AND IT LUBRICATES IT KEEP IT RUNNING.

Engine wont stay running. Please help.

change the filter first. IF the pumpwas bad it wouldnt start at all. It could be going bad but the only way to really test it is to pull your gas tank and at that rate you may as well replace it.

you could have a clogged injector causing the lack of fuel as well. you can try injector cleaner, Lucas is my personal preference I use it at every fill-up. 4-6oz per tank of gas depending on your tank size.

Ranh out gas now car put when started and goes dead after seconds

Fuel injection doesn't like to be run out of gas. You can get all the sediment and junk in the bottom of the gas tank, sucked up into the fuel strainer. (Sock)

This will make the 'sock' collapse. Think of the fuel strainer 'sock', as a very fine filter made of panty hose material. (It's even finer than that) Now fill it up with dirt, water, and additives that gasoline has in it.

Solution? It's time for a pro to look into it. Fuel injection systems use pressure of 38 to 44 pounds per square inch. In comparison a carburated system uses pressure of 5 to 7 pounds.
Dealing with this can be dangerous. Many people have been accidentally burned. (Some hospitalized for skin grafts, some shipped to the morgue)

I think the fuel pump went out on my 93 GMC 1500 truck.

try changing the fuel pump. When the tank goes empty it sucks the dirt into the lines.
