Check that the large wire going to starter solenoid and battery has a good contact. If this is good ,then suspect dodgy starter solenoid.

1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Pick up 5.2 L V8 will not start just clicks. We recently replaced the battery (it's 1 month old), spark plugs, spark plug wires, oil, oil filter, drained the radiator and put some fresh...

If it makes a single click every time you try to start it than the starter is probable bad. Sometimes if you keep trying to start the vehicle the clicking will be enough for the contacts in the solenoid to finally make good contact and allow the starter to finally start the vehicle. If this is the case than replace the starter ASAP.

I’m happy to assist further over the phone at

if the clicking sound comes from the solenoid when you try to start the engine the solenoid may need replacing, the solenoid is like a big switch that takes the power from the battery to the starter motor, inside it there contacts that come together to make contact & that is where the problem is.....hope this helps.....cheers

The contacts inside the starter solenoid maybe burnt. Also check the other battery cable. Do a voltage drop test on both, static and cranking, once you get it working. Ice,maybe, but then no one would be using their vehicles.

Turn key to start get "click" after several "clicks" car starts

the click is caused by the contacts in the starter solenoid being burned and erroded, your truck has a Japanese starter and this is the problem they have most often, and always the give away is the click. U can replace the contacts or the starter solenoid.
