Question about 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix

Service eng lite not on car idles at 1000 rpms sometimes it gos to 2000 rpms car dosen,t miss also at times won.t accel. untill you tap accel.

This Sounds as if the THROTTLE BODY & or EGR VALVE has "CARBON" Build up. This can be Corrected By Simply Removing the Parts and CLEAN them Being Carfull NOT to allow Debris to Fall Into Intake Manifold Using a VACUUM Cleaner to Remove any Debris Left In And Around Work Area's On Engine. Also Replace GASKETS on these Parts.------ A Small VACUUM LEAK can Also Cause High Idle

I hada chk eng light on it read 02sen. changed out both sensors the chk eng light has come on again with a code of P1100 maf sensor it is accelerating the rpms very high then normal during accel.

smh please ddi am wondering how a female feels like lol, anyway i think your egr valve passage is blocked am dealing with a problem right now i found out that the nissan am working on is clog and in the morning am going to deal with it because this car idle at about 2000 rpm and sometimes it would not accelerate so if life last tomorrow i would let you know if it works ok, but try cleaning the throttle body and pipe from the egr valve i think you have a blockage ok. good luck

Idles ruff (idles at 600 rpm) if you hlod the brake and accel too 1000 rpms the problem goes away. Is there a idle adjustment.

yes there is an idel adjustment by the carbs
you need to bring up the idle to 850 - 900 rpm in gear,,,

My 1992 ford exploer will not hold a steady idle. I replaced the throutle positioning sensor.when i start it, it revs to 2 rpms then cuts of and sometimes it runs but the rpms go up and down for about 1 to...

  1. baring a major vaccumm leak
  2. idle speed control motor is probably sticking
  3. it is a 2 wire soleniod with an air shuttle which allows air to bypass the throttle plate.
  4. when acting up at idle tap the idle valve repeatedly with a small hammer.
  5. does idle change?
  6. if so replace valve

RPM stays at 1500 instead of 1000 and check eng lght stays on

changing the spark plug will not gonna change anything good in the system if i were you,you might check your idle air control valve if functioning right or check you wires goes to it their are possibilities that it might burned up or you might wanna pull out the idle air solenoid they usually tend to have carbon in it cleaning it may resolve the problem sometimes..

sound very much like a vacuum leak.... also maybe your timing is off? possibly advanced? try retarding it with the distributor if thats the case...
