Remove plastic cover over the engine ( three screws).
You then have access to the front three spark plugs (cylinders 1,3,5) remove the nut which holds down the independant coils and remove the spark plugs, fit new spark plugs and fit coils on the three front cylinders.
Now it gets a little tricky, you will only be able to access number 2 back cylinder so you have to remove the induction manifold (12 bolts I think) to access the back three cylinders (2,3,6,) properly.
Then proceed as with the front three spark plugs, refit manifold and plastic cover,

My xj8 Jaguar crank up and sets right back off what all could be wrong

Security is set. Could be one problem. Fuel system can do this, but rarely. Takes a scanner to see where to look first.

When do spark plugs need changing on a 2008 4.5 XJ8 Jaguar

only when there is a problem as reported by the fault codes. With engines controlled by the ECM the voltages that are required to operate spark plugs is very high ( in excess of 60.000 volts) This in turn means that the current flow across the electrodes of the plugs is minimal and so the electrodes do not burn as they did in years gone by. There are manufacturers today that fit v6 engines in the engine bays where the rear 3 plugs cannot be easily reached and so they fit platinum plugs and recommend that they never be changed. It really is a preference thing but as the ECM continually tunes the engine (hundreds of times a minute) tune ups are basically a thing of the past and any problems will be recorded in the fault codes.

How do I change the spark plugs for a 2001 xj8 where are they located

They are located under the black plastic covers on the top of the engine. Remove those and you will see the ignition coils. Take those out and the spark plugs are beneath them. There are no spark plug wires.

Where are the spark plugs located on a 3.2 XJ8 V8 engine

They are located in the head of the motor, the easiest way to find them is to follow the spark plug wires down from the distributor.

Is it difficult to replace spark plugs in a Jaguar XJ8

Your car does not have plug leads so that will save you a job,the spark plugs are fairly easy to do tho.
Open the bonnet, either side of the engine at the top there are 2 black covers bolted to the top of your engine, bolted to those are 2 smaller covers, remove the 2 smaller covers which will reveal your ignition coils, remove the ciols and your spark plugs are there.
You will have to remove the air filter assembly tho on the right hand side which is easy enough, remove the bolts from pipe at the rear middle of engine, undo the clips which houses the filter and disconnect the engine breather pipe.Re assemble in reverse order,
N.B the spark plugs dont want tightening too tight..or too loose, when the plug nips up just give it a little nip again..GOOD LUCK
