I just had a problem with my AC going out then my temp gage wasn't working and the coolant kept overheating...little by little my car was slowly overheating and then it would immediately overheat as soon as the car was started! This too is a 2001 vw beetle with 75,000miles. No previous issues with the car either. Turns out my empeller on my water pump broke in 3 fluids were flowing at all! good thing I stopped driving it. $400 fix

Could be a fuse or a relay..
Find the locations of them in your owners manual..

What could be wrong

Non working blower is usually a bad resistor. Mounted close to the blower.

Rear heater does not blow but a/c does

fuses that look bad are, fuse that look (appear) can in fact be bad
hair line cracks form ,when over current conditions happen.
we use an ohm meter, we take our $20 DMM and select ohms low.
0 ohms is a good fuse, and infinity is 100% bad.
the blower is dead, no blow , no heat.
so find out why the blower is silent (fuse)
or if blower blows (heard) and it dont exit the port of desire.
that means the mode control motors (actuators are malfing)
check fuses 1 more time some cars have up to 3 fuses for heat and blowers and actuators.

if electrics is your bag>?
then login to and see the actual schematic
with this and a volt meter, you can find out who is dead.
and why./
the FSM covers this 100x better, than any online source.
if serious on car repair? buy one. buy the FSM and become more
self sufficient.
in most cases, the first time you use any FSM it's now free
if it saves you 1 shop hour of labor , you are money ahead.
FREE< it is. if you keep car 8 years as most do.

Heat and air conditioning does not work.

say what dont work.
ok the blower blows, and for sure on high.
so what do you want , and where.
heat to cab?
cold air conditioning to cab?
does not work, ok
lets do 1. no heat to cab,
blow fuse is 1st . check all fuse. (see glove box operators guide)
if no heat:
check engine heat, is it 180F and holding
check cap heater core hose, in heat mode are both hot. ?
if both are hot you have heat to the core and is a damper failure
in the heater box (or controller)

this car is a frankencar.

My 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis does not blow air. You can adjust the temperature, and you will feel cold air (or warm air) but the fan doesn't work. My mechanic is saying we need a whole new in-dash...

first check fuse relay to blower motor and check see if blower motor working remove and hotwire it if yes control module bad if blower motor dont work its faulty.

1998 honda passport, air conditioning not working right, does not blow any air or heat, sometimes it will work and sometimes it dont

sounds like the blower motor starting to go out or a short but a short would usually blow a fuse.

The airconditioner only works in my 2006 H3 when the car is physically moving over 25 mph. If it is going slow or idling there is no air coming from the blower/fan. When it does blow it is only on a low...

There is a HVAC relay and FUSE in the under hood fuse box, have you check both of these? If the blower works on any speed, the blower is good. You say it blows on lowest speed? The blower speed resistor is mounted on the blower housing. The HIGH SPEED BLOWER RELAY is mounted on the blower motor. You may have multiple problems but check fuses first, if all is OK, then a qualified repair shop will need to check further. You do NOT need the whole A/C system replaced. If it does blow cold, thats good, you just need the blower working.

My air conditioner will only work (as far as the blower) on high. Also, the button that you press for it to blow out regular air or air conditioning, goes on and off while I drive

the high position has its own fuse and relay.the blower resister needs to be removed .it's under the passenger need panel in the blower will see it will look burnt and smell that way if it is may need to get a blower resister connector from the dealer also.good luck.

The air conditioning, the blower fan everything stopped working, on 2002 Nissan Sentra. Does anyone have any suggestions?

One suggestion. Have you checked the fuses ?

I would check the AC or blower fuse to start with. If you have the drivers manual it will show you where the fuse box is. Typically there are at least two boxes to check. One in the Engine compartment and one in the passenger cabin.

Look inside the lid of the fuse box to see which fuse may apply to the AC circuits or the blower and check to see if they are blow. the metal link between the two posts that plug in. If the link is missing you need to replace the fuse with one of the same rating. Make sure you know where you took the fuse out from and put it back in the same slot if its good. Check all the main fuses if possible to see if any have blown and replace if they have.
