Question about 1993 Geo Metro

I HAVE A 93 GEO METRO.AUTOMATIO I REPLACES ENGINE WITH 92 5 SPEED. MOTOR IDLES WELL. WHEN I TRY TO DRIVE IT NO THROTTLE RESPONSE.NO CHECK ENG. LIGHT. IS IT POSS. THAT MY T.P.S. IS BAD. OR MY INJECTOR. PLAESE HELP.

You need to check the wiring diagram, the control modules are numbered with letter following to indicate if they are for an auto or manual transmission. Sounds like you have a circuit open that the computer needs to see, but I'm guessing that you need to change the module. Good luck,

My 93 Geo Metro 1 liter 5 speed runs fine but ifvu


6th post wins, with Injector.
the injector can fail for these reasons.
the problem in car lingo, is FLOODING.
and after doing all that did it run? (my other shoe drops)!

1: the 0-rings bad, on side.
2: the injector is bad, it leaks.
3: the ECU injector drive line is failing. (bad ECU)
4: loss of spark always ends in flooding.
5: ECT sensor bad, sending water temp reading to -40C Siberian.
did you get the FLASH codes from the CEL lamp yet, with the
diagnostic jumper , inserted?
6: bad need of tune up, air filter clogged, spark plugs long ago, dead.
do a tuneup every 10 years, or 60k miles and win..
7: Cam belt slipped, low compression for any reasons. again, the 60k mile tune up wins.

when you crank the engine over, with the throttle at wide open throttle
this ACT, cuts all injections. cranking, this covered in the operators
manual, for UN-Flooding all gas engines. and all EFI engines.
and all Suzuki's' (or Geos)

on old dogs like this, i do compression first.
saving a fortune in parts , time and labor, if bad.
do it WOT, wide open throttle.

Motor runs at 4000 rmp when started


1995 Geo Metro. COLD start or HOT started or BOTH?
Does it ever idle down to 800 HOT? (engine temp)>?

the USA 1995 was the last car to use TBI injection (throttle body)
the LSI option, then had a 4 cylinder. in 1.3Liters.
and works totally differ. than any 1.0L

Have you inserted the Diagnostic jumper wire and looked at the
FLASH codes yet?
choke? on 95? what country is this, ours are not carbs. in 1995.
so post country. ours are all EFI in USA.
3 cylinder? 1 liter? or which engine/?
on any USA Metro, 1L , when first started, it has 2 valves. to control IDLE, (cold , is iAC) hot is ISC, The cold start valve opens farther the colder it is (how cold was it). but usually is limited to about 2000 rpm
max.
this engine, TBI, uses a MAP to control fuel mixtures, and
any air leaks (aka; vacuum leaks) what so ever, will cause too fast idle.
so on MAP cars, you get to find out what is leaking AIR.
1995 has the new better , idle control speed motor, (ISC)
this can be stuck open.
that new TPS, did you do the calibration correctly?
it must set right. or idle will never be controlled.
finding the cause, takes hard work, and hands on testing
A/C fast idle broken
A/T transmission fast idle, device, broken.
Air leaks (add huge list of possibles and cracked hoses here)
Throttle stuck
ISC or IAC bad.
very hands on to find this, done many.
TPS on indexed corrrectly or not calibrated.

Auto trans will shift some times and manual only


It may be just the vehicle speed sensor. Does the speedometer work OK? The vehicle speed sensor tells the computer how to control the shifting and it also sends a signal to the speedometer. Is the trany full of fluid, is it fairly clean? It should be red. Most vehicles, you check the fluid with the engine idling, in park.

When i start my 1997 Geo Metro, it often sputters


Try this
Here are the most common causes of surges, stalls at stops, low erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation, it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

As long as they are the same type of engine ( I believe they should both be 1.0L 3 cyl engines). Most parts for the Geo Metro from 1992 to 1994 interchange with out a problem.

engine code U is 9.1
engine code 6 is 10
add for AC 1.3
add skid plate0.2
the trans depends on 2 wheel drive 4 wheel drive?
and auto or manual.

and as for you question about the 93 engine only if its the same engine code.

Trouble Code description


Code 46 is indeed the trouble code for the Idle Speed Controller which is that big black box thingy on your throttle body. A lot of Chilton-type manual books omit that code because the ISC isn't found on pre 94 Metros. The ISC is a computer controlled auto-adjuster for the engine idle.

An important note: code 46 is often caused by misadjusted distributor timing. As you probably know, timing affects the idle, and if improper timing moves the idle beyond the ISC's adjustment range, the check engine light will come on and diagnostics will return code 46.

i have no idea about an idle up solenoid relay but i had the same problem.. there is a hex screw on the motor that takes a very small allen wrench head where you can adjust the idle from there. its near the throttle body
