The radiator should be unrelated to this problem, unless you're so severely overheating the car that it's stalling (this is unlikely). there are many possibilities here, but it sounds like this is happening during idling conditions which tells me there may be a problem in the IAC (Idle Air Control) circuit. The IAC valve manages how much air gets into the engine while it is idling and if the valve is malfunctioning or if the air passages it uses are clogged w/ carbon deposits, it could create the problem you're having

On my wife's 1992 honda accord the cooling fan kicks on after the ignition is turned off. Her battery had died before and I wondered if that may be the source of the battery drain. If so what might be the...

first check the temperature switch for failing closed. you can do this with a test light or ohmmeter. with the car cold, put one test light lead on the battery positive and the other on the temp switch terminal. If your light comes on, replace the switch. If the switch is not failed closed, recommend you replace the fan control module. According to autozone.com, your temperature switch is on the driver side, upper engine area, end of cylinder head, mounted in top of water outlet. The control module is probably in the engine compartment relay box by the battery. If you have questions or your setup differs from what I have explained here, please get back to me.

Ignition will not shut off to remove key unless battery is disconnected. 1992 Honda Accord LX

You have either a bad ignition switch or the actual tumbler (key slot) is worn out. Or, see if you can get the key out when you put it in NEUTRAL (with the Parking Brake on). If this lets the key out then the problem is within your Interlock Control system.

If the problem occur after you stop the car and switch-off the engine, it could be the master/main relay. After a few hours, you can restart the engine as usual. Try to replace the relay, it may work well. Happened to me and my friends before.

Car won't start when it's hot outside

My daughter's 1991 Honda Accord did the same thing. I discovered that the main relay had to be replaced. Apparently the solder used in the original main relay was poor and would actually "soften" in the heat and cause a disconnection. When the cabin temperature dropped, the solder would cool and reconnect. Anyway, replacing the main relay worked. My daughter's car has not had this problem since.

my accord did this so I thought the coil was overheating. it was the pickup under the rotor. I replaced it and never had another problem. well with it anyways.

There are cracks on the soldering inside the Main Relay. Either resolder the cracks or replace the Main Relay.
