Here's how you do it, easily and correctly, the first time. Ignition on, press the Set Up button once and the display will say "Press Reset for Sys Check" but don't press reset, wait a second or two and press Set Up again and you'll be able to scroll through the options. Keep pressing until you get to the one that says "Pres Reset at Oil Change" and follow the instructions from there.

My 02 mercury mountaineer transmisson sims to have problems changing gears the over drive light is flashing

have the transmission fluid level checked , if you don't know when it was last changed i'd have that done , as old fluid loses its viscosity and other properties just like engine oil

I have mercury mountaineer 2004 v8 the reverse no work maybe need change the oil transmission

If you have over 75,000 miles and never replaced the transmission fluid and you do not have a engine light on, you need a new transmission.

I changed the oil in my 2002 mercury mountaineer .I dont have a owners manual .and the change oil light comes on how do i take it off

You need an OBII scanner but... Autozone, Advance or any good auto parts store will reset it for FREE for you.

Reset the change oil light on 2006 mercury mountaineer

On the console, where the oil change light is on, scroll through the items until you get to oil life. Once at oil life, hold the reset button and it will say Engine oil new. Press reset again and this should set you oil life back to 100% .

do the cheapest thing first wich is to have the tranny filter and oil changed then go from there...then have ur tranny sensor checked

To reset CHANGE OIL SOON/OIL CHANGE REQUIRED message on the Message Center, press the SET UP control to access the System Check mode. Press and release the RESET button to display “OIL LIFE % HOLD RESET NEW” is displayed. Press and hold the RESET button for 2 seconds until “IF NEW OIL HOLD RESET” is displayed. Press and hold RESET button until “OIL LIFE SET TO 100%” is displayed.

Ford Five Hundred, Freestyle, Mercury Montego 2005-06 Tap the ODO/TRIP button to toggle the display between the odometer and trip odometer. Tap on the ODOiTRIP button again to toggle the display between the trip odometer and OIL LIFE % display. Press and hold the ODO/IRIP button for 2 seconds or more to display OIL LIFE 100%. Your oil life in now reset.

Oil chnage required is indicated on the information display.

maybe just try unhooking and waiting 10 min then rehooking up the battery . maybe get lucky :)

How do you reset the oil change required sign that comes up on then information display of a 2002 mountaneer. It has had an oil change but they failed to reset it.

Hold the reset button in for 5 seconds.

You should then get a message the the "oil" life is 100% or the oil change required light will go out.
