2007 Saturn Vue while driving, speedometer stops working and trans starts shifting funny

The electronics involved are unique to say the least .
Speedometer
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the vehicle speed based on the information from the body control module (BCM). The engine control module (ECM) calculates the vehicle speed based on the controlled area network (CAN) serial data message indicating the wheel reference speed from the electronic brake control module (EBCM). The ECM sends a CAN serial data message to the BCM indicating the vehicle speed. The BCM sends a class 2 message to the IPC indicating the vehicle speed.
The speedometer defaults to 0 km/h (0 mph) when any of the following occur:
• The EBCM detects a malfunction in the vehicle speed sensor circuit.
• The ECM detects a loss of CAN communications with the EBCM.
• The BCM detects a loss of CAN communications with the ECM.
• The IPC detects a loss of class 2 communications with the BCM.

Is the ABS light lit ? Having the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes would be the best first step to finding the problem . Could be a wheel speed sensor or ?????? .

Where are all the ground wires located on a 2008 chevy cobalt?

It wouldn't be a ground problem If it were the whole instrument cluster would be dead . Checking the BCM an the IPC for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes is the proper way to diagnose this type problem . Not worrying about grounds .
Odometer
The vehicle odometer is calculated and stored electronically in the body control module (BCM) and is sent via the serial data circuit to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) for display. The BCM calculates and stores the mileage based on the vehicle speed serial data information from the PCM/ECM. The IPC displays the season odometer information from the BCM in the driver information center (DIC). The odometer will display error if the IPC detects an invalid odometer data from the BCM. After an invalid odometer data is received from the BCM, the IPC will display the last known odometer reading for 1.5 seconds before error is displayed in the DIC.
Speedometer
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the vehicle speed based on serial data message from the body control module (BCM). The BCM receives vehicle speed data from the PCM/ECM via the serial data circuit. The speedometer will default to 0 km/h (0 mph) if:
• The PCM/ECM detects a malfunction in the vehicle speed sensor circuit.
• The BCM detects a loss of serial data communications with the PCM/ECM.
• The IPC detects a loss of serial data communications with the BCM.

2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 cruse stoped working but light is still on.

This is very complex , first thing is have the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the BCM , PCM !
The body control module (BCM) monitors the signal circuit of the cruise control switches. The BCM relays the cruise control switch status to the engine control module (ECM) via the GMLAN serial data circuit. The ECM uses the status of the cruise control switch to determine when to capture and maintain the vehicle speed. The ECM monitors the vehicle speed signal circuit in order to determine the desired vehicle speed. The ECM uses the throttle actuator control (TAC) motor in order to maintain the vehicle speed. For further information on the TAC System, refer to Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System Descriptionfor the 4.3L engine or Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System Description for the 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L or 7.0L engines.

Where is the body control module located on a 1996 Oldsmobile Aurora.

You would need to see if any DTC'S -diagnostic trouble code's are stored in the BCM , That's the first thing that should be done . An a special type scan tool is needed , not a code reader for engine code's. If no code's ,checking power an ground circuits to the BCM need's to be done. Input an output test's have to be done as well . You need wiring diagrams , pin out diagram of BCM connectors . Need to know what all the BCM controls etc... Suggest you watch this videos . I have a 2002 bravada and when I was driving I turned radio off and now I have no windows, radio, locks, fuel gauge, oil gauge.checked fueses and they were ok,any suggestions?

Does it start an run ? Your best bet is to take it to a ASE certified repair shop ! All the things not working are controlled by the BCM body control module an are on the class 2 serial data bus , would be best to have hooked up to a factory scan tool to see if there are any DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored . The instrument cluster gauge information comes from the PCM / ECM - engine computer over class 2 data bus .
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the fuel level as determined by the engine control module (ECM). The IPC receives a serial data message from the ECM indicating the fuel level percent. The fuel gage defaults to empty if:
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the engine oil pressure as determined by the engine control module (ECM). The IPC receives a serial data message from the ECM indicating the engine oil pressure. The engine oil pressure gage defaults to 0 psi (0 kPa) or below if:
The Body Control Module (BCM) performs multiple body control functions. The BCM can control devices directly connected to its outputs based on input information. The BCM evaluates this information and controls certain body control systems by commanding outputs on or off. The BCM control inputs can be:
?€¢
Sensors and switches that are directly connected to the BCM

?€¢
Class 2 serial data received from other control modules connected to the class 2 serial data link.

The BCM is also capable of controlling other vehicle systems that are not directly wired to the BCM. The BCM does this by sending specific messages on the class 2 serial data link. The control module capable of performing the required function will respond to the BCM message.
You best bet is to take it the dealer or a ASE certified repair shop !

1999 chrysler seabring coupe has fire to the coil not the cap or roter 2.5 v6

Check the ECM and BCM. (Engine Control Module / Body Control Module.) Sounds like the Chrysler Anti Theft and BCM are not talking to the ECM reliably. Check connections and the wiring harness first to these components. If no change, try Dealer testing of both units. This could be expensive as only the dealer and a few module 'rebuilders' have computer codes and program to isolate the problem(s).

2002 Altima cranks no start. Dealer said that the bcm ecm and immobilizer all need to be replaced. Had to come up witht he money so I had the car towed back to house. Now the dealer is saying that the dash...

Did your Check Engine or Service Engine Soon light come on? If so, did you read the code stored in the ECM? If so, what was (were) the code(s). It's unlikely that the ECM and BCM would both completely fail at the same time. More info please.

I have a 2002 envoy LX that starts but quits immediate, the dash says unrecognized driver, what does that mean?

sound like problem with theft security system.ignition key worn out or BCM ECM failing let dealership check it out.if BCM goes bad it will cause ECM to disable the fuel system causing no starting problems.if ignition key worn out or been replaced with wrong type key THE BCM ECM will disable fuel system which is call unrecognized driver in which vechicle in theft security mode.dealership has to check it out.

U1064 code & can't check the codes on a scanner. engine starts & dies. when it was running the abs light & brake lights were on & theft & service lights were on.

Sounds like a blown fuse to one of the computers, either the ECM (engine control computer) or the BCM (body control computer). The ECM fuse should be under the hood and the BCM fuse in the cabin. The U1064 means a loss of communication on the data line between computers (64 usually is the BCM). If the computers can't communicate they will shut down the engine and set trouble codes. The other issue could be a faulty ignition switch not allowing power to a computer (but not common for cavaliers or sunfires). If fuses are good, chances are you have a faulty computer somewhere in the data line, shorting out communication.
