Not neccessarily I'm afraid !
The firing order varies from engine to engine.
Four cyclinder engine's pistons move up and down in pairs in order to cancel as much vibartion as possible. Most pair the two outer + two inner pistons to equalise the load on the crankshaft, but not all do !
The only way to work out from scratch (i.e. without a manual or another engine to look at), is to work out which piston is at or very close to top dead centre when the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley is at zero degrees. This is cyclinder 1.
Then for each 180 degrees of crankshaft rotation from this point one of the other cyclinders will come up to top dead centre, the first will be cyclinder 2, then 3, and then 4 after two complete revolutions of the crankshaft = 720 degrees.
If all of the above is complete jargon to you, then you proably need a friend who knows more about engines to help, or ask a mechanic.

Just spotted an ommision in my original post:

Where I've said "top dead centre", I should have said "top dead centre on the compression stroke = both valves fully closed"

On a 1990 Nissan axxess it starts up then it shuts up and struggle to turn back on what could be the problem.

This could be anything from bad spark plugs, wires, rotor, and distributer. It could be fuel delivery, or bad gas. I would start with simple things, change the gas filter, the spark plugs, take a look at the distributer cap and rotor and the spark plug wires. If it has been sitting for a long time, pump the tank out and put fresh gas in.

Diagram or picture of where the spark plug wires go into the distributer on a engine number 318-1

For this you have to determine when the #1 cylinder is at TDC (Top Dead Center) - when it would be firing. Take the distributor cap off and look at the rotor - it would be pointing at the #1 spark plug wire on the distributor. The wires would be connected it order around the distributor cap starting at 1. The sequence is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 in a clockwise fashion.

I have a 94 Nissan Altima that is arching at or near the distributer may be coming from the piece right next to it that is connected to distributer by a spark plug does anyone know if this is what could be...

clean the area where the sparking is occurring and check for a crack at the plug lead in the distributor cap. If the cap is bad inside then the spark will ne short circuited and the engine will stop.

I mixed the distributor cables up,so i need the order to correctly connect

If the wires are still in the distributer, AND, if you have a stock intake manifold, the firing order is on the manifold. If it's a V-8, the number 1, 3, 5, & 7 plugs are on the drivers side of the engine. The number 2, 4, 6, & 8 plugs are on the passenger side. The number 1 plug wire can be located by looking at the distributer from the front of the engine and visually looking between the distributer and the number 1 plug. Visualize the distributer as a clock. The number one position should be located between 4 and 5 o'clock and should have the longest wire of those on that side of the distributer.

If the wires have been pulled from the distributer, then, then, remove the rotor cap, turn the engine over slowly until the rotor is pointing to the number 1 plug. Using the firing order on the intake manifold, starting with number 1, replace the wires going clockwise around the distributer.

When it rains or moisture in the air my truck want to shut off

Take the distributer cap off and spray the inside of the cap with wd-40 and wipe clean. If that doesn't work replace the cap. If that doesn't work replace the spark plug wires.

Hi kellymcmeen

I think that you may have missed replacing the weather gasket....fits between the cap and the distributer body.
