Need valve adjustment on 2010 Mercury Mariner 2.5 dohc

There is no valve adjustment. If you have excessive clearance then you have a physical problem with your engine. With an overhead cam, like the name suggests, the cam shaft is positioned over the valve. The lobes of the cam shaft push down on a puck that is between it and the valve stem. Although these pucks are shim-able, they should not have to be re-shimmed after the initial assembly.

Tire error

It's either the pressure in one-four of your tires being at least 7lbs different than the other tire(s) or your pressure sending unit(connected to the inside of the valve stem) is bad. Replace the air to recommended tire pressure or replace the pressure sending unit.

Its a 2006 mariner with what i believe is a bad altenator is this a hard fix?

Yes, compared to most vehicles, this is a quite a chore on the Mariner if you have the 3.0 V6 GAS engine. The 2.3 litre is not so hard.

My 2000 Mercury Cougar V6 is blowing white smoke in the morning, and loosing a little coolant. I think it should be the head or plenum gasket, or more likely a worn valve stem stem seal. I'm looking for...

You have a blown Head Gasket, if you have had leaky Valve Stem Seal the color of the smoke would be blue, for the burning oil. Either way it is more beneficial in the long run to pull the Head off and replace both the Head Gasket and install a re-built Head, instead of doing a Band-Aid repair.

2006 Mercury Mariner V6 4WD. Sporadic stalling when stopping

One of the most common causes of stalling like that but not showing any fault codes on many types of vehicles is the IAC valve, or IAC motor. (same thing) It's mounted on the side of the throttle body near front opening and it controls engine idle under load conditions such as applying brakes, turning wheel, AC on, basically anything you use in vehicle that puts any load on the engine, which will make RPM's drop at idle, that valve, steps it up to where it should be to eliminate that. I'd remove it, get a can of throttle body spray cleaner, and clean pintle (pointed part) and the port (hole) it came out of real good, then re-install it & see if problem goes away. If it goes away, then returns before too long, replace it with a new one.

Sounds like a spool valve in the steering box but the truck is too new to have that problem. Jack the front end up and see if there is still a difference left to right
