Hi,
If the car has an air bag in the steering wheel, I wouldn't touch the job... have a qualified mechanic do it for you. It's a saftey issue.
Otherwise, I would recommend that you obtain a Chilton repair manual. The instruction on here wouldn't compare to step by step instruction and pictures in the manual.
Good luck!

How do you locate and test flasher relay on a 2006 Chevy Equinox? Turn signals and hazards stopped working after changing audio system. Fuses test good. Thank you, Mike

Did you change any wiring , tap into any wiring ? There is no flasher relay on your vehicle . It controlled by the BCM !
Turn Signal/Hazard Lamps
The body control module (BCM) is responsible for controlling the turn signals and hazard lamps. When the turn signal switch is placed in either the left turn or right turn position, the BCM receives a signal from the turn signal switch. The BCM then sends an on-off voltage signal to either the left or right turn signals and their instrument panel cluster (IPC) indicator. When the hazard switch is pressed, the BCM receives a signal from the hazard switch. The BCM then will send an on-off voltage signal to all the turn signal lamps. All the turn signal lamps will flash including both IPC turn signal indicators.
Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair ! We on here have no clue what you did . On this newer vehicles ,if you know nothing about automotive electronics you really should take to a professional

Why does turn signal sound all the time unless the br(ake) is pressed?

Taryn, sounds like a faulty turn signal switch, or multi function switch is defective. Check all the bulbs and sockets first for damage wires, burnt wires or bulb socket, cheapest part to change besides bulbs would be the signal flasher or the signal relay if you want to go this route. I HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE, SOMETIMES A WIRE COMES DETACHED FROM THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH. REMOVE THE COVER FROM THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH, SEE IF ALL THE WIRES ARE CONNECTED TO THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH CONNECTOR. YOU MAY HAVE TO PULL ON EACH WIRE TO SEE IF IT IS SECURED IN THE CONNECTOR. IF THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM, YOU MAY NEED A NEW TURN SIGNAL SWITCH.

95' Buick regal, 3rd brake light works, tail lights work, turn signals work, stoplight switch seems to work ie 3rd brake light working, fuse is ok, changed bulbs, but no rear brake lights.

If the third brake light works and the regular ones don't, it is most likely a bad turn signal (multifunction) switch. The switch is able to kill the brakes lights to run the turn signals, and in rare circumstances does this. I've seen it several times. It could also be wiring, especially near the turn signal switch, but it is usually the switch.
